Old And Angry, A Novella

Citizens of M4C, my new Novella, Old And Angry is now out! It’s a spin off from my Vacation Gone South) series, so anyone who enjoyed that series should enjoy this one too. I look forward to your reviews and feedback!

Get it via Amazon HERE.

Thanx!

Just loaded it on the ol’ ipad…Looking forward to another kick ass adventure!

I look forward to your review! Main character, Paul L, is in fact a real person, a buddy of mine who was a LRRP in Vietnam. The dead Ranger, is actually an Army Col who is a fan of the VGS series and I posted his review of VGS series in the dedicated thread. I feel a greater connection to the characters when based of real people in some form or another which helps me bring them to life. Most characters in VGS are names of real people I know.

Redshirting friends and fans is a time-honored tradition… just ask Larry Correia.

Ok Will, I have purchased.

I really hate kindle store… instead of opening on page one, your book is lost as they try to swindle 9.99 a month out of me. This happened with Chappies book too. (A fellow Sacramentan)

Ok, through the bar scene. A good start.

Good on ya Will!

I just finished it. Very enjoyable read! You need to start writing full length books though.

I hear ya, and thanx for dealing with it to read my new Novella

It gets better!

Glad you enjoyed. I tend to write until I feel the story is written, and that’s usually 30-50k, so novella length. I like the pace of novella length stuff. Might also be all those years of writing for magazines and such where you had to be focused and concise and word count always on your mind. But, some day I will try to push for novel.

ALL, please make sure to leave a review at point of purchase as the sale and rankings of my stuff lives or dies on those reviews.

Another option for going long might be to start with a novella, then use the end of that story as a launchpad for another, then use that for a third. Collect the whole VGS series together and you might be able to make a book of it easily…

Actually, did exactly that using the last 4 novellas in the series. VGS 1-4 in print format:

PS, pic in my profile is the print book.

This new story is a spin off character from that series.

Fu&$. my ad for Kindle to sell my latest novella- Old And Angry - was rejected because the cover is too scary for people. Ugh, this modern world of :snowflake::snowflake::snowflake: is killing us and creating soft worthless adults… Rant Off. PS. Reviews are coming in and very positive so far.

Will have a new less scary book cover up ASAP.

Some reviews coming and so far so good.

"Will Brink is a great writer and storyteller. In Old and Angry, the author’s voice comes through seamlessly in a first person narrative as a rough and tough as nails former Viet Nam vet turned detective turned leave me the hell alone while I enjoy my birthday. But underneath that rawhide exterior is a man set out to do the right thing and get some answers for a young soldier. This gritty mystery novella should be on your must read list. “… book pulled me in like a $10 hooker and I could not put it down. What a great - real life read. I tell you you were right there as Will paints each scene with life like detail down to the dirt on the floor. LOVED the book. Now that was a kick ass book that any one will love. AWESOME>”

Yes, I have finished and it was a good read. You definitely nailed the “leave them wanting more” angle.

The character development was really good and you made them relatable. I am waiting for the next installment.

Thanx bro! Please leave a review as the ranking and sales live or die on those reviews. Hopefully you have read the Vacation Gone South series of which this was a spin off character. I wanted to make sure it was a stand alone read, but also wanted those who had read the VGS series to get something extra from it knowing Wink and co.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, fast paced read

I am a voracious reader and tear through books, always on the lookout for my next read. I enjoyed Old and Angry and highly recommend it. Thanks Will!” - John Clem

All, Top rated thriller author Mark Allen just reviewed my recent Novella Old And Angry via Amazon:

"If you took Clint Eastwood’s cranky character from Gran Torino, made him a Vietnam Vet with lethal skills, and then gave him a murder-mystery to solve and some bad guy butts to kick, you’d end up with “Old and Angry.” Author Will Brink’s first-person narrative expertly captures the gruff, no-nonsense, “get off my lawn or I’ll kick your tailbone out the top of your skull” voice of door-kicking, meat-eating, whisky-drinking Paul, the “old” protagonist of the story.

The ‘angry’ part of the tale comes around when Paul and his ex-SEAL pal Jake find out what kind of dirty business some Russian gangsters are really up to and decide that the only way to handle the situation is the old-school warrior way, with generous helpings of C4, frag grenades, and hot lead. The author shows here that he really knows how to write an action sequence, delivering a gritty, you-are-there vibe that means you can practically hear the explosions, see the blood spray, and smell the gunpowder.

The story may be short, but it packs a mean punch, like a rock-knuckled uppercut right to the chin. This one’s got a wicked, cutthroat edge, and should be right up the literary alley of anyone who enjoys violent, action-packed, hard-boiled thrillers."

So when are we going to get the next novella in the series?

I wish I had a timeline on that one. I started V a while ago but didn’t get far. I have always been a slow writer I’m sad to say.

Looking forward to the next one in the series.
