Seems simple. Seems you have 3 options

Reload, but good luck finding components right now. They are out there just gotta look and get a bit lucky. I reload myself. Have enough components to keep me shooting for awhile. But not forever. Big upside of reloading is when components are available it becomes pretty easy to stack them deep. Then when things like this happen you arnt completely SOL. At least not imediatly

Wait, ammo will come back.

Or sell. If you are crazy impatient and have no motivation to look. Then go the easy route and sell

OP, don’t fret. I think the ammo situation will eventually settle down and you can find it on the shelves again. It was like that before, it’ll level out again. I feel a bit discouraged now since I can’t find any 55gr ammo to paper hunt. But I was able to procure a case of 64gr. - free. Talk about a gift! :dance3: I figure in the least I will run a little of that for sight in and see how the rifle likes it. I plan on using that ammo for small-mid nuisance/game, I better know how it runs.

For the meanwhile while the market settles down, if this is your first AR15 I will suggest using this time to read and learn. Also, buy a bunch of dummy rounds and practice dryfire, clearing and your handling techniques. Keep checking back on the ammo but don’t overpay now in haste. I know, it’s hard not to want to go shoot. Have patience.

Exactly. All this foolishness has made me decide to advance my plans for getting into reloading to the top of my gun related priorities list.

Buy a .22 conversion and shoot it until 5.56 ammo becomes plentiful and prices start to lower.

Would you get rid of your car if a part was not readily available? Or would you figure out another means of travel till that part was available? Ammo will be back in stock eventually or it might be a good time to get into reloading.

I think you’re right. It’s obvious you will much happier selling it and getting something else for whatever reason you bought the 6920 in the first place. Basically you have a $1000+ club. Sell it to someone who will give it a good home and can afford to feed it and maintain it with the loving care it deserves.

Reloading isn’t really a better option either right now. You’re just as SOL starting out as the panic has hit the reloading market.

Just going to have to wait it out and now that you know, plan for it to happen again. Next time you can be one of those who have 60k CCI 500 primers and can reload for the next 10 years before running out of components.

H.R. 142: To require face to face purchases of ammunition, to require licensing of ammunition dealers, and to require reporting regarding bulk purchases of ammunition.

Doesn’t ban anything but will limit access and increase prices.

Getting into reloading now would be a monumental disappointment. :laugh:

The AWB, even at worst, only affects semi-automatics.

The magazine ban bill simply limits round capacity to 10.

Neither will affect even the evilest-looking bolt-action unless you have some ultra-large mag capacity.

Received M&P 15 for Christmas. Can’t find ammo. I’ll leave the rifle in the box and put it away until ammo is available.

In the meantime, I’ll practice with my handguns. I expect handgun proficiency will be of greater value in the near future.
