So after some issues I had with my Falcon Recon, Mr Stone offered to exchange it for a new pistol. I am thinking of maybe going a different direction with it. I want a full size gun that I can use for everyday carry that I can bet my life on, and is best suited for the job. I like the features on the Falcon, and the fact that it is closer to the original design than the Predator, but this gun is not going to be a safe queen to look at and drool over. I will shoot the hell out of it. I have never shot a Predator, but I have read that they are indeed noticeably quicker back on target than bushing guns. I figure a Predator with a recon frame and Everlast recoil system, it would be a soft and sweet shooter.
I like the cuts on the frame of the Falcon better than the Predator, as well as the 1 piece magwell. Maybe I could sweet talk Tim to having a Falcon Recon built with a Predator barrel. Nicer shooter from what I read, but again I would be drifting from the original design. And this will most likely be the only semi custom 1911 I have for a long time, so I am not sure which way to go here.
Id like to get back with them this week with whatever I decide…
In my worthless opinion, the more you stray from the original design, the more you invite issues to happen. I know very little about either pistol, but I would rather have something based off of the tried and true rather than the new.
I’ve owned three NH Predator’s, all without the Everlast system (basically a flatwire).
There was a noticeable decrease in felt recoil impulse.
The only real performance difference between the Falcon and the Predator is the barrel itself, everything else is aesthetics which will ultimately come down to personal preference.
I like both, but if I had the choice I’d get another Predator.
NH is letting me exchange my pistol for another build. I do not want to sell this at a $600 or so loss to fund a Wilson. To get a Wilson Tactical Elite with all the bullet proof parts and serrations as the Predator would be a lot more money. NH makes a great product, I just got one that for whatever reason has a few issues, but they are taking care of me as a customer.
Spoke to Tim today. The owner Mark will get back to me Monday to see if they can make me a Falcon with a Predator barrel. If so I’m also gonna spring for no slide marking but a NH eagle behind rear cocking serrations, recon frame, and add the Everlast recoil system…
NH has been good to me. They are building me a Falcon Recon with a Predator barrel by my smith of choice for thetroubles I had with my previous Falcon. I will post a thread when I receive the pistol in 6 weeks or so…
