Newbie has questions about optics.

Hello,

I’m a newbie here and just bought a DD V3. I’m not new to AR’s but I’m used to shooting irons. I want to put an optic on but don’t really know much about them. I’m wanting something small and compact but still co-witness (fixed DD front and rear). I’m interested in the Aimpoint Micro and a EOTech of some kind. I’m sure the Aimpoint vs EOTech has been beaten to death so could someone post a link to pros and cons of each?

Thanks,

B_RAD

Aimpoint Micro (with 2MOA dot) would be my choice. Small, light, rugged and great run time.

I’ve only seen Micros w/4MOA. I’ll be doing a google search.

Thanks,

They’re quite new, but around the same price. If for any reason you decide you wan the 4MOA flavor, there will be a line of people who will happily make that trade.

Also, unless you’re using NV or submerging it, I wouldn’t discount the H1, but for now, only the T1 is out in 2MOA.

This is another newbie question. Whcih is more durable, Aimpoint or EOTech? The hood over the EOTech looks like it would do a lot to help protect.

There are some EoTech fans here, but it seems to me that the overwhelming majority prefer the Aimpoint. Watch this video to get some idea of what an Aimpoint Micro can take.

Aimpoint=more durable, watch the TacTV episode where Vickers does a torture test on a DD rifle, I was more impressed with the Aimpoint T1 in that test than the rifle.(rifle was outstanding as well)

I’m an Aimpoint fan for rds, even though I’m not a big fan of the micro, it is the best choice for what you are looking for.

Nice!

They just came out and we have them in stock.

We offer package deals with them here: http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?search=action&category=PKGS

Thanks for the links.

And the sarcasm. Next time I’ll be sure to read thru every post on the internet. I’m sure you’ve never asked a quesiton without first doing a complete search of every internet post. Believe it or not, I did do a couple Google searches but didn’t really know what to look for.

Thanks again for all the links.

I started a thread the other day and I got the SAME thing.

It was closed…2 replies in.

Sarcasm makes the world go 'round

It’s all good.

So far the only negative of the AP is the higher price.

I have owned both. I love both.

Sounds like the Eotech is what youre lookin for.

Go with the XPS model

Its really not higher when you figure in the run times. If you use an EOTech enough, the cost of having to buy more batteries adds up.

I’m thinking the AP Micro. Probably the T-1 cause I think I want the 2MOA. Now need to decide if I want the 1/3 lower co-witness or complete? Also, DD or LaRue mount. I think I like the idea of the QD?

The LT660 will meet every need you want, the DD only makes sense if you’re sure that’s what you want. Considering the mount is half price in any package deal, it’s kinda silly not to get an LT660 or ADM equivalent.

Lower 1/3 is my choice.

If you do not think that you will take your mount off a lot (which most do not), save yourself some coin and go with the DD mount.
