Kinda interesting. Lyman’s got a new bench-mounted priming tool. I’ve got mixed experiences with hand-squeeze priming tools, but probably wouldn’t give up bench space for this. I mostly prime on a progressive; next most is done on a H single stage. Standalone priming an extreme minority that lives on a shelf. Interesting product, though. Curious how many of y’all will get one?
Color me interested for non-bulk applications. I’d like to move away from hand priming tools without breaking the bank. 6.5 Creed, 308, 30-06, etc would benefit from this.
I have used the LEE original hand primer for years and always had good luck with it,but its finally shot,I still use it sometimes but hold the primer cover on with tape. They ended up changing it to the newer version and its OK,but I liked the original so much (round primer holder) I tried buying a NIB one on Ebay but the guy thought he had gold so I passed. The new LEE is pretty good and once I figured out its little quirks it runs pretty good. No interest in going back to handling individual primers, that’s 40+ years ago for me in the reloading world,LOL! I have never tried the RCBS hand primer so I really can’t say how it works,I just never liked that big handle and such, maybe I’m missing out,LOL.
I still load & prime all my 9mm on my 550 but all my 5.56/308/rifle rounds I hand prime then run em through my 550 with great results.
I’ve been priming 9mm brass when sizing on my Big Boss 2. Single feeding the primers by hand. 1700 pieces in the last week. I actually broke my first decap pin ever due to some SS pins stuck in a flash hole.
I wish I could try out a few table top priming tools to see if there’s a less mind numbing process.
