No you aren’t missing anything. It’s been brought up to IT.
Okay, yeah, posting pics here IS easier.
So, to go to last post in a thread, you have to use the slidebar?
So I’m able to use the forum slidebar or the one on my browser. Seems redundant but pretty much a non issue for me.
I’m over 30 and couldn’t begin to tell you the last time I browsed a forum on a computer. Had to be before the first iPhone came out. Since then it’s been phone only. I also prefer the dark background.
Much to my disbelief, I’m now closer to 70 than 60… sigh. From LP to iTunes, dial-up to fiber optic gig speeds, payphone to iPhone, Prodigy BB to what we have here today. Gone through a lot of change over the years and generally embraced it all.
Many issues I see being posted are legit user difficulties that require Admin attention. For example-
User name not compatible
Text failing to properly screen wrap
Background and text color options
I think one of the biggest issues is lack of support. The basic format is different enough from what most firearm discussion forums use that it should include a decent tutorial and FAQ section covering what average Joe needs to both enjoy the forum and learn some of the benefits. When I click the FAQ section this is what I see:
just a quick brap test, fellas
Good catch about the FAQ… I’ll send that up as there should 100% be some info there, even if it’s a simple color by numbers to navigate.
Yeah the new format is awful. I tried messing with the text size options but all of them give me eye strain after a few minutes. Cramming all the text into a little stupid box when you have miles of screen real estate sitting empty isn’t helping.
Who thought this was a good idea? Giving users asthenopia probably isn’t the best way to revitalize a forum.
No I did not know. And thank you for pointing that out.
I still prefer the individual page set up, but knowing the trick on scrolling makes it much better. At some point it may be a six of one, half dozen of the other kind of thing for me or even preferable.
I think that is a big issue.
Different commands/processes(that aren’t exactly intuitive) to get the same outcomes.
I don’t see members’ join date, post count or EE feedback at the top of their posts anymore. Kind of important when I am in the EE and may want to purchase something. Is this something that can be added back?
came back to the site for the first time since the change over… couldn’t log in with my old info, reset password and got a new member message… don’t like the format already, but I am old and cranky.
I agree, another thing I very much dislike.
Damniy, how the FUCK do I quote someone here?
You have to highlight it, like you were going to copy and paste it, and “quote” will pop up under it. Hit that and it should let you quote someone. Another retarded change.
Roger, thank you. Holy fucking SHIT that IS retarded.
Try just highlighting and clicking the reply tool and see if it quotes what you selected.
Something to get used to.
I will say if that responding to/quoting one segment of a post is much less of a hassle than clipping out the unwanted text while responding.
Also, if you just select reply, that launches the text box. Then just select the leftmost “quote” icon and begin typing. Slowly becoming acclimated to the new format.
I agree, less of a hassle.
It wasn’t unusual in the prior forum for folks to quote an entire multi-paragraph post and then reply with a two-word profundity. Scrolling and scrolling past quoted posts I already read multiple times. Perhaps having to highlight what’s actually required, if anything, to keep things in context isn’t such a bad idea.
