New DD V7 LW upper or New Centurion complete rifle?

Need to lighten things up a bit for LE duty use. Currently have a DD M4V1 that’s 8 years old and love it… But it’s heavy.

Trying to decide between anew DD upper V7 LW or a complete Centurion rifle with Centurion rail.

DD V7 LW URG $800

Centurion Rifle $999

Would sell the DD if bought rifle or just M4V1 upper if bought URG.

Think about $250-300 to upgrade DD
Or about neutral to switch rifles.

Been impressed with DD quality but heard good things of Centurion. Definitely their CHF barrel is a reason to keep DD but heard Centurion has one also but not in house manufactured (FN?).

Thoughts and input from those in the know.

The Centurion barrel is very good and is FN CHF chrome lined barrel which quality wise is right on par with DD.

If it were me I would probably go with the Centurion rifle because it is such a great value compared to just the DD upper. They are almost the same price. I would also personally be replacing the furniture on the DD which would add to cost

Not sure what the weight of the centurion upper is for comparison purposes. I would find that out if weight reduction it’s your goal

Both are good choices so no matter what you choose you should be good to go.

I agree on replacing the DD furniture… Lucky for me my DD is old enough that it came with mil-spec and Magpul furniture

My friend has a M4V7 LW and it’s extremely nice. I’d say the juice is definitely worth the squeeze.

ETA I’m a huge fan of the V7 rail specifically. A very long FF rail with 7 MLOK slots and a very solid lockup is hard to beat.

You didn’t mention BCM, but an ELW upper wouldn’t be far off of the DD in price. I have the KMR version and it’s been great so far.

I know a few people in here ordered the Centurion rifle so maybe they can come in

It is s new offering from them so they only did complete uppers before the rifle. Not sure if they have them started shipping them yet

Bought an MK18 upper with the DD P7 pistol mlok rail installed instead of factory one from Western Sports for $799… Included the BCG new in box… Did a Form1 SBR tax stamp … Shaved off 2lbs

go with a sionics patrol 1 or 2 and request lightweight barrel, imo on par/better than the big league names. dont get me wrong, i have a few daniels and love em for what they are, but they are overgassed imo. when on duty i use a lw aswell and the gas port on sionics is freakin sweet. i dont need it to be overgassed to eat all the worlds type of ammo, i run one specific load in my duty carbine. if you have your heart set between the dd and centurian, tough call, both great rifle, both have good support, them daniel guys though really really take care of their blue buyers though, and quickly

I’ve been using a DD V7 light weight as a Patrol Rifle at work for a while. I’m extremely impressed with everything about it.

I’ve never had complete rifles/carbines from either company. I have use components from both companies with great results. That said, for the money, the complete rifle from Centurion Arms seems like a better deal to me.

Don’t overthink it, just get a new DD upper and sell the other to offset the cost.

Not saying Centurion / Sionics are good rifles, but I hate change without reason.
