I wonder if they will have any connection with Dan wesson, and it appears that they with Springfield will be THE sub $1k options
CZ has been connected to the Dan Wesson lines for a while. Back in 08 CZ released a bobtail which is the same gun as the Dan Wesson VBOB.
Would be nice if it came with a few more updated options in that price since springfield already has the milspec for a few hundred less. I have been very pleased with my cz purchases lately and see no reason why these should not be a quality base gun.
Hmm,looks interesting,$850 MSRP so ya should be able to come across it for less,Forged frame and Slide and sounds like they already put a decent trigger in it,said around 5LBS or so. I agree the Springer Mil-Spec is less $$ but more options are always good. 
CZ-USA owns Dan Wesson, but it appears that CZ will be making the 1911, not DW. DWs are made in NY, while the CZ says it is made in Kansas.
I wondered about that myself. I plan on getting a DW Specialist this year and I like that it say “Norwich NY” on it,thats only about 25 miles South of me,much like the Remington 1911s that say Illion NY,adds nothing but its cool for a native Nyer just the same. I know the Remmys will be changing,but there will be plenty of NY 1911s out there. Anyways,it will be interesting when these show up,I’m sure it will be awhile,but then I’ll have my Gun Guy start lookin.
CZ USA is based in Kansas City, so the gun must be imported and go through CZ USA. I thought DW would be making these with the CZ rollmark, but that must not be the case.
Forged slide and frame, dovetailed front sight, wide spur hammer, arched mainspring housing.
Looks good but I wonder how much of the 1911 is MIM.
Also…in the 800-900 range? For that I can get a Series 70 Colt.
Actually these are being made here and not in the Czech Republic. Pics I’ve seen say Made in USA on the right side. These look like they might make great base guns.
That’s interesting,I thought Kansas was just the Importing hub,I don’t know if they have a manufacturing facility there or not,I’m sure someone that knows will chime in. Like I say the DW Line has Norwich NY on them & it would make sense to me to just build them where the DW line is built,but then I’m not a corporate head honcho,so who know. It will be interesting to find out. And yes considering they are forged frame & slide they should be a good base gun. I already like the arched main spring housing,good site cuts,SS bbl etc,should be a good gun.
Honestly my DW has a cast frame (2008 model) and it has 35k+ rounds through it. There is essentially no wear to the frame and I run a 12.5 lbs spring (which does not effect the frame, but some people believe it does). I’ve never seen anyone wear out a modern steel frame, and I’ve seen pistols over the 200k mark.

I’m really happy with how these are looking. Clean lines, decent sight cuts especially in the front. Will pair nicely with a 10-8 Rear NM sight. Plus they look like they might be taking a .250 radius beavertail.
This looks like it might shape up to be what we have been wanting from Colt, a standard S70 base gun. But without the Colt price.
Colt’s modern series 70 goes for $900 - 1000. Some would say that it’s too expensive.
Springfield Milspec parkerized goes for $600 or less if one looks hard enough.
How low does one expect the CZ 1911 to cost to choose it over a Springfield?
Good point Sam for sure,the Mil-Spec is a good gun,but just reading about the CZ I like some of the features already listed that I would replace or fix on the Springer ! Its a time will tell kind of thing I guess, once we get some out there and guys start shooting them. I agree with the Colt comparison,they are fairly priced and after all its a Colt but like bigrobbierob stated the CZ has a couple things different than the Colt and priced fair,especially being $850ish MSRP ya should be able to get them for under $800 I would hope.
Hell you should be seeing them for around $650-$700.
The DW rep over at the 1911 Forum has said there’s zero MIM in it. Too, although nothing official has been declared, the implications from CZ and DW have been that it’s built by DW.
If there is no MIM in the CZ 1911 and it is priced at 650-750…don’t tell me that thing won’t sell.
if it hovers in the 800 range…sorry I am giving another 50-100 for a Series 70 Colt.
Anyone know if this CZ 1911 is a “Series 70” 1911 or does it have a Series 80 safety, Swartz or something goofy in the mainspring housing like the Springers? My guess is that it is Series 70 but it is just a guess.
