New BCM based Midlength WITH range report *Update 3*

I thought I would mention that in the title, knowing how strange it is for a target, a USED target, made WITH the rifle being mentioned, to be included with the intro of a new AR to the world.

This is my first build (2nd rifle. First is an RRA NMA2)

I suspect my group size was affected by my primers. I had three dimple but fail to fire and two others were delayed fire. These primers had been under fresh water for about a day (heavy, heavy rainstorm)

The group is a 36yd zero being fired at 100yd. I set the zero at the side range at Trailglades. There I fired AE223 and XM193 with no issues.

I put the range stool (heavy metal frame, probably 15lb stool) and covered it with a towel. That was my rifle support.

RANGE UPDATE

10 rounds in each target out of the same batch of reloads, same day.

Range Update #3. On average the close clusters are 1.22moa. Seems a bit odd that 3/10 are out there in each group.

X-TAC ammo

First set and to foul the barrel

2nd set

3rd set

Based on what I read (configuration, etc…) you should certainly be able to shoot better groups than that. No sure what the issue is, but I would go seek out some ammo that you need is good and reshoot.

I’ll use my ‘clean’ set of primers lol on the next batch.

My gas block also only has about a .010 in clearance to the rail.

Get yourself a better rest and a better target so that you can center your dot AND repeat that center for each shot.

On the site there is a thread where someone provided some targets in .pdf format for red dot and holo sights.

At that point you should be better able to see if you have ammo or gun issues.

Thanks. I had used a PDF off the aimpoint website to set the 36yd zero.

Op updated. My two suspicions were confirmed.

Sporadic primer power (due to having been flooded once, it’s ok, not surprised) and there is contact between the rail and the gas block

Who makes that sling ?

Me, lol

The closest thing you’ll be able to get is the Blue Force Gear Combat Applications sling.

I pulled the silver thing from a camera strap I had gotten before. The rest is your basic HK spring hook, triglides, and a QR loop (the rail has built in QR receptacles)

A closer shot from when it still used two HK hooks:

That’s a nice setup ! Simple but functional.

Just as an FYI, HK snap hooks suck (will dump the rifle). So get some Mash hooks.

I thought the adjuster on the sling went to the front?

One of the many things I like doing my way lol

To the OP- that is exactly what I want to get when I can get enough saved up for a rifle. Love that set up! Hopefully you can get it zero’ed soon.

What do you mean “dump the rifle?”

He means you will be going along happily thinking the rifle is secure when it is not. It will come off your body and hit the ground.

Correct.

XTAC update. No issues. Seems to shoot fine

Why are you using a T-1 to shoot groups that you are using for testing the mechanical accuracy of the carbine?

I don’t have a scope lol.
