New barrel from DD

Now to convince the wife…

I know these were out a while back and disappered. I would love to hear end user experience for those that have one.

Stupid gov profile is stupid.

I have 2 lightweight barrels both are very accurate. The newest one shot a group less than a quarter at 100 yds.

I’ve got a 16" DD Gov profile and shes better than me.

This profile would make more sense and possibly be more accurate than what I’ve got now. But the biggest thing for me is barrel weight management. This is a logical profile.

I want other things for the rifle, but this just made the top of the list.

Exactly, I love my V5 gov profile, but I also own a PWS barreled upper (DI) and that thing is just right on weight, if I had to put up for debate I’d say that the DD is more accurate, but the PWS is nicer to shoot on the move. Glad to see DD doing this

Seems like a perfect barrel for a Recce build.

If they could offer one in 14.5" I’d use it for my next build

Maybe I can’t see it in mobile, is there a weight listed?

Not that I’ve seen on the website. “Paging Joe Marler…Joe to the information desk please”.

I wonder if the S2W profile is going to take the place of other barrel profiles for DD? It certainly makes a lot more sense than the goofy “Govt” profile, and it would help explain all the Daniel Defense barrels that hit clearance prices on Brownells, AIM Surplus, etc. last month.

Bcm just released one in 14.5

Is this barrel chrome lined or melonite?

Salt Bath Nitride in and out. No chrome, I believe. Still CHF. I gotta get one. At least I think I do lol.

I have a 300BLK S2W barrel that is scary accurate (~.5moa). It’s heavy, but the accuracy is a fair trade-off IMO.

BTW, the Salt Bath Nitride is the same as melonite.

The S2W has been out for years. They’re about an SPR profile. They just did an 18" rifle gas that I like.

Yea this barrel profile looks really heavy, not lightweight by any sense of the term.

Ahhhhh…honestly didn’t know that…or remember anyway lol.

Learned something…thanks bro.

If I go with a 15" KMR, I’d cut my current rail weight almost in half was the thinking. And yeah, I heard they were stupid accurate.

I’m good with the tradeoff.

I don’t think this is a new barrel, I saw these on the DD site and heard people talking about them more than a year ago IIRC. Anyway the sooner the manufacturers ditch the Gov. Profile the better.

The 556 version was out for a while and then turned into vaporsware. They have had the S2W profile in 300 and 6.8 but the 556 is new again. I’ve built 2 LW uppers over the last year and have been thinking about doing a 16" precision type jobber. This might fit the bill.

Just when I thought I was done buying things for my rifle, I find out they offer the 18" barrel in rifle length gas.

The 16" 5.56 S2W Profile Barrel weighs 2lbs 6 oz sans gas block. It features an SBN coating on the outside as well as the chamber and bore. Like all DD barrels, they feature hand polished feed ramps and chambers.

Thank you sir.
