New AR-15... not

Hello, all. I am a new user. This is my first post.

I tried to order a Colt LE6921 a couple weeks ago, about the time furor was coming on with the new “assault weapon” ban. So, of course, none were available and I’m now waiting ~18 months (or more??) for my rifle to be built.

I assume the truth of the matter is that I will never see it. Is this a good assumption?

Is it possible to obtain all the parts necessary to build a similar firearm from scratch?

I regret that this is what our once great nation has come to. A Beretta 9mm and M-4 were my best friends on active duty. Would love to have a civilian version, more or less, of that wonderful rifle I was issued while in the military.

If I were you I would at least grab up a few 30 round mags if you dont have any (these can still be had a reasonable prices if you are patient). I can see a mag ban happening before a full out “assault rifle ban” If you look up " the ban is coming" under general discussion there is a bunch of info on the matter.

Its possible to build any gun from scratch, but an AR, especially given the current climate would be extremely expensive. Just keep a good eye out for full/semi complete guns

wow. that is a very fair price from Grant. NIB colt (BONE STOCK) 6920 in my area are selling for $2500. I cant wait for this silliness to subside.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your service and sacrifice.

I’m sure Grant would be able to come up with something for you in less than 18 months. You could also try and source parts and build it yourself, keeping in mind that parts right now are commanding a premium and tough to source if you are in a hurry.

If you go with the build it yourself route, start with the lower, so if any changes occur you will at least have the “rifle”… You might also want to keep an eye on the EE’s on the various boards or Sturm.

Considering people were buying RRA’s for 3k last week at a show in my AO, this should have been gone in minutes.

Maybe people are feeling a little hopeful that prices will come back down. Or not that many people have seen it yet.

I don’t know how it could come down as I priced it at MAP! Even when there wasn’t a buying frenzy going on, I sold BCM rifles with ease.

Ha. I wasn’t able to find any 30 round magazines. Not sure where they can be found. Aside from experience with the M4, I’m a newbie at all this…

Same here man! I said something to the wife about it and I swear for a second I saw her thinking of ways to kill me…so I said nahhh I’ll let this one go. Right now I don’t need much…but I can’t help but be a little greedy either lol.

Try an online vendor like DSG Arms. Get yourself on the back order list…and wait. TOS has a mag tracker spreadsheet to see what’s shipping from them and what kind of time delay can be expected. M3 Non-Windowed P-Mags seem to be moving pretty steadily.

I ordered some P-Mags from Midway USA on 12/26 and they shipped a few days ago. In the mail now.

No one likes waiting and the backorder time frames are a complete crap shoot, but you don’t pay $60+ for a $12 piece of plastic.
