need help with AR paint project

I am preparing to paint my entire upper receiver, minus hanguards. I am going to use a high heat paint and would like to bake on the finish for durability, etc.

Can I place my entire upper in the oven for a baked on finish? If so, what is the temp and length in the oven? Is there any other parts besides the handguards that must not go in the oven? Do I need to use a primer before painting? Once it is finished baking, is there anything else I need to do, before shooting it?

Am I going about this the right way? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The problem with using a bake on finish on an assembled weapon is getting all the oils and grease off/out of the weapon prior to baking.
Once you spray on the finish and start baking, any and all oils will seep/creep out and mess with that finish.

You’d have to consult your paint supplier’s specs for the temp and duration. It will be dependent on the finish, not the AR.

Duracoat suggests 1 hour or so at 300 I think to get it mostly cured. It will cure naturally over time like concrete…

I don’t know the specs for NMR.
