My friend's Glock got stolen, used to shoot a gang banger, and she got it back...

Someone did a smash and grab into her car a few years ago. I still say it had to be someone that knew her because you don’t just randomly break into a window at a grocery store mid day and only steal a Glock that’s underneath the driver’s seat. But who knows. She reported it stolen of course.

Anyway, her gun found its way to Miami and ended up being used by a homeboy to shoot another homeboy.

She just got it back today. :stop: Kinda…odd. I don’t know how I’d feel about it at this point.

She got her property back. What’s odd about that? You don’t feel odd when you sleep on a hotel bed do you? There is no telling what the mattress has been used for.

There is a market for guns that have been used in murders. Could make some money if she was so inclined. You could always duracoat a combat action ribbon on it too.

It has nothing to do with the fact that it had been used in an armed robbery/attempted murder, whatever. Hell. That’s kinda cool.

Its the fact that its all corroded, rusty, and covered in finger print dust.

Good idea.

Yeah, if your friend feels weird about it, just sell the thing in full disclosure, and buy a new one. Might end up money enough ahead to buy some more magazines.

My G23 was stolen about 6 years ago when flying from Va Beach to Tampa. I’d love to get it back…

I’d send it to a well qualified Smith who’s done extensive Glock work and have it restored…maybe have some custom work done while it’s in the shop.

That’ll only take a couple hours to clean up, if that.

Its the fact that its all corroded, rusty, and covered in finger print dust.
Something to keep in mind if you carry a $3000 custom 1911. If you use it in a shooting it will likely come back looking worse than that one. That’s why I carry a Glock

She got Lucky.
Sell it & buy another one.

my truck was stolen from my parking lot at work two years ago…along with my '32. luckily the gun was recovered 7 months later and was beat up, but never fired. I got it back with 12 rounds of Hornady HP’s.

I looked up the name of the oxygen thief who had it as his pic was on arrests.org. He had 15 mugshots and multiple convictions to weapons possession, possession of X, possession with intent to sell, and driving with a revoked license all before 21!

And he even had a firearm reported stolen from a PD in North Carolina!

I’ve owned several guns that were evidence auction pieces, some with interesting stories (and police reports). Suicide guns as well. There is indeed a market for them, if a bit macabre. A favorite G19 is a CA homicide gun.

Check out Fireclean’s Facebook page. They just “restored” a glock that was much more rusty than this one and it looks brand new. All they used was fireclean and some fine steel wool.
Not an ad guys, just saw it in my newsfeed on FB the other day.

I’m kinda surprised she actually got it back after it had been used in a murder. Are those evidence numbers under the rail? I’d leave it the way it is. Did she claim it on insurance originally & already have it replaced?

I would just enjoy your new old pistol.

If you feel funny about using a pistol used to shoot some homeboy you can always auction it on gunbroker. Perhaps you can us a sales line like this.

“Used G19 certified by LE, that was used to shoot some homeboy in Miami, FL!”

Start the bidding at $500 and go from there and then buy a new Glock.

Ours get destroyed.

I’ve tried to buy them.

Lt. says nope.

Its not odd we return property to the rightful owner once the case is settled and its no longer needed as evidence.
Pat

I would put that “battle tested on the streets of Miami” Glock on Gunbroker and buy a brand new one that hasn’t been contaminated by dirtbag cooties.

Wouldn’t GLOCK restore the pistol back to spec? I bet they would for FREE especially if you verified the story to them.

That appears to have been super glue fumed for latent print recovery. So that white powder-like stuff is very likely not going to come off.
