Mini thermal optics

ChinaMart brings us tech that’s hard to believe, but there it is, tiny thermal optics the size of older RDS. Ready for prime or range toy? Range toy for now, but worth seeing how it develops. I’d be more interested in it on a long gun next to a LPV on a HD/SD long gun. Maybe small game hunting at night?

Holosun, a brand that has been around a while now, has some interesting offerings:

I’d like to see clip on thermals and NV become affordable for the average Joe. In my area thermals are somewhat common for ranchers dealing with coyotes, etc.

Funny, that was my exact thought when I saw the Infitac. The reviews on it have been good although, as you can imagine, it eats batteries. The Holosun has had mixed reviews, though. One review I read said it is basically a $400 red dot on a $800 thermal sight, which is borderline on both as far as quality.

ETA: I just looked on the Infitac website and the FML13 is on sale for $799. They now have a new FML19 out with 384 resolution and rechargeable batteries for $1199, which is still a good price.

Code Thermal15 will get this for $637.

Yeah, it’s wild how far mini thermal has come—stuff that used to be brick-sized is now basically red-dot footprint. Definitely a range toy for now, but if reliability and refresh rate keep improving, I could see it making sense as a clip-on or offset on a long gun, especially for small-game night work.

The Wave Horizon 650D is one of the thermal monocular sights I have ever used whether you are trying to scan a wide area it can pickup heat signatures for over 2000yards plus I love it for it’s clear lens.
