What direction should spent shells eject from?
If the end of the rifle is at the 12 0’clock position, my shell’s eject around 3 or 3:30.
Is this a normal ejection pattern?

I have some that eject between 1 and 2 o’clock, and some that are at 3 and later.
As long as it’s positively ejecting, don’t worry about it. From kneeling, it should hit the dirt at least 3 feet away.
Mine actually eject at the 4-5 o’clock position, which I always thought was weird, but I havent had any problems with it though.

My carbine ejects at 9 o’clock ![]()
Oh yeah…It’s a lefty…![]()
My BM Patrol Carbine ejects at exactly 3 o’clock…piles them neatly about 5’ away from an offhand stance. As stated above, its not what direction they’re ejecting…it’s the fact that they ARE ejecting properly. It’s the bullets that you want accuracy from, not the brass! ![]()
3 O’clock is the perfect position to shower your buddy in the next lane with hot brass…Lets him know he’s alive - don’t change a thing… ![]()
All three of my ARs eject at about 2 o’clock and throw the brass around 10 feet or so. As you can tell from the responses so far, there is clearly some variance in the ejection patterns of ARs.
I agree that as long as the weapon is exhibiting reliable and positive ejection it’s not something to be overly concerned with.
