I think that was was the intent behind the entire “Gunwalker” debacle all along. This should be considered to be this generations Watergate. Agency heads should be fired over this and impeachment explored. Now will it happen? Probably not. Libya specifically and the Middle East in general is all over the news and this is on the back burner. By the time those situations are no longer at the top of the news this will probably be buried and long gone to the MSM.

Ironically, I had the opposite experience. I took German in high school, because I wanted to learn a language I might actually use. Now I live in Arizona. Who the hell speaks Kraut down here? I could have actually used Spanish here.
That said, I learned all the Spanish I’ll ever need to know:

I dig being fluent in Spanish…but then again I was born along the border and love the culture as well. I also make my living in manufacturing so I am biased all the way around.

The U.S. immigration policy is to blame, not the average mexican citizen. Ask yourself why a RICH Saudi can come right on in with a student visa but poor hard working mexican cannot afford the money & 2+ years and complete total bullshit it takes to become a citizen.
We are our own worst enemy…I agree about boots on the ground and lining it shoulder to shoulder with the military, but Washington does NOT want to secure the border.
On a side note...no one is reporting on the request of the mexican people to implement their own 2nd ammendment so they can defend themselves. I wanted to kick that reporter in the taint.90% of what comes over illegally (the “hard” working mexican) is simply trash. They have nothing in mexico, so why not cross over the border to the land of entitlement and get everything for free.

Just go to san marcos for a weekend and checkout the outlet malls, you’ll see all the “not-trash” mexicans in their benz’s and bmw’s from montery and mexico city. They go BACK to mexico, because they arent worthless there.
i’m in oregon, so it’s possible you, arizona, and california act as a filter, but i think this is bullshit. do you have statistics?

I used to live in California, and I have to say he’s absolutely right.
In fact in CA it’s so bad that there are alternate versions of billboards with Mexican people instead of Americans, with Spanish captions instead of English.
And this isn’t in South California, it was in Sacramento. Where I lived.
It’s becoming a second required language for that state.
When I went back to CA for a visit, I had to get my mom to teach me Spanish over the phone so I could order a damn burger at Jack in the Box.
I had to do a weird charade game of reading face and body movements in order to buy a pack of cigarettes for a friend.
It is bullshit. The overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants are here because fat, lazy, naturally born Americans are subsidized to do nothing. Two things are responsible for the vast majority of illegal immigration…minimum wage and welfare for American citizens.
I live in what is essentially a sanctuary city and most illegals are still scared to go to the hospital for fear of being deported, never mind collect welfare.
Americans need to get over themselves and move to find work and also to realize that they aren’t entitled to some magical minimum wage. Your coal mine/factory shut down? Tough titty MOVE!
Of course in a truly free society we’d be more prosperous and craving more immigration to keep up with growth…
ETA: And language? Please, people said the same thing about Italians, Germans, and pretty much every other group of immigrants. Guess what? They eventually assimilated and learned the language. Or should the government get to chose what language I chose to speak/how to talk to my employees?

it’s not OUR fault- “us” being working class human beings, regardless of nationality or race. are ANY of the problems of the world my fault? yours? some mexican’s? my responsibility is to my own. mexicans realize this, and so risk robbery, murder, a hundred miles in 110* heat with no water, to go to a place where they’re hated and not welcome, to provide for their own.
i KNOW there’s a lot of mexicans here, and i know there’s a lot of mexican’s coming into this country- i’m not arguing that. i’m arguing the assertion that MOST of them are criminals. i think that’s a HUGE load of shit.
I work with some of the most well adjusted, content & happy people doing the most boring but important tasks day in & out…the plant i rep in mexico has about 130 direct labor folks who have shit eating grins on their faces all day long.
dub has a point & the entitlements need to stop along with implementing a screening and profiling system to fix it correctly, but they don’t want a solution to the problem…the anchor baby deal is a total farce. My wife used to work labor and delivery down here. Why we would allow pregnant women in obvious labor to come through the poe & straight to the emergency room is beyond comprehension.
They are criminals because they came here illegally, but ignoring that I would agree with you that most are otherwise law abiding, family oriented, hard working people doing mostly crap jobs, which are much better than they had in Mexico if they had a job at all.
But I still don’t think we should be allow them to come here illegally, or ignore them if they do, just because the Mexican economy can’t or won’t employ them.
I never said they were criminals (even though they are since they are here ILLEGALLY), i said 90% of illegals are trash (i.e. trashy…think white trash but mexican).
Which means they do most things other trashy people do. Drink in excess, probably drive while intoxicated, have way more kids than they can actually support, probably involved in domestic violence, drug use, ect…

nobody does. but we have guys on here that get really hateful about the topic and act like the problem is the fault of impoverished mexicans. this hatred (or whatever you want to call it- i’m not using the “H word” for effect) for an otherwise generally good people is totally wasted energy. it’s our government’s responsibility- 100% theirs, and they aren’t doing their job.
in america, if you’re poor, it’s probably your own damn fault. in mexico, if you’re poor, it’s because you’re mexican. and not a cartel member.
