Mechanix Gloves

I think Mechanix gloves are about the best things going, even better than more expensive ones. Does anyone seen the ones worn on the cover of the new Combat Arms? They’re green with grey palms and a “utility” tag on them. I can’t seem to locate that particular model.

I think those are thier new e-tip style gloves. Could be wrong but I wS looking at the. The other day on amazon. That’s why the first two finger tips are different tan usual. They haven’t made it into the tactical line yet so it’s regular colors.

Yup. Looks like the “touch” series.

Cool. Maybe they’ll be available soon. I know the mags get some things before they’re available to the general public.

If I cut the finger tips (last knuckle) off my boring Mechanix, do you guys think it will work on my iPad and Galaxy? Or will my fingers not swipe properly?

I think that’s the whole point.

It will work but you lose serious fashion points.

Mechanic are good if you keep them dry. I’ve had 2 pair of the coyote color with the padded fingers and knuckles but the leather or whatever it is dry rots after it gets wet and dry a few times. Carhartt makes a good black pair and Oakley does too if you have a DOD type budget .

I have a pair of Mechanix and a pair of Craftsman. The Craftsman are ok too. I have yet to see how long the Craftsman will last, but so far it seems good.

Unthinkable. I don’t need to swipe my smartphone very often, but I wouldn’t dream of losing fashion points.

If I don’t look good, I’ll have to know my shit. Me thinkest not!

Haha! Sounds like the opposite Red Green’s regular sign off:
“If the women don’t find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.”

Back on topic, another brand of good gloves is Kitco.

Oh she knows I’m handy, she’s just not impressed. Luckily her sister seems more appreciative…

I bought these as stocking stuffers for friends and family. Some I shoot with, others chop their firewood and work on their chicken coops. Every single pair is still completely intact and showing no signs of major wear.

On that link, there’s also a brand at Home Depot called “Grease Monkey”. They’re pretty good, I haven’t shot with them but I use them for outdoor workouts and the weight room. They shouldn’t have lasted 18 months, but they probably have another six months left in them.

Just a few options.

Edit, attachment fail.

TLO - Stanley garage gloves worked great for full auto/crew serves when they got hot, and were functional on the radio when needed. We had a touch screen ICOM and I never needed to remove gloves.

Mechanix also has a thin pair coming out at a much better price than SKD’s, I’m curious to see how they compare.

Two pack Mechanix - 14.99:

My fave, ordered two pair as an order filler to get free shipping - now have 18 pair, should last me until I’m done:

http://www.lapolicegear.com/speedfit-utility-glove.html $4.99 a pair.

I havent tried the SKD PIGs yet, but I hope to. I love my Mechanix a lot, but one thing I cannot stand is when the velcro wears out and the strap just dangles and I have to replace them

They work well for what they are designed for, but are over priced IMO.

+1

The strap seems to wear out as fast as the Mechanix, which isn’t really an issue for either. By that time you’ve gotten your $20 worth

Just don’t get the Oakley gloves. Fantastic waste of money.

Not sure about on the touch screen but on the touch pad on my Blackberry Bold I use my knuckle (fabric part on the back) as the finger tips don’t work with Mechanix gloves. Of course trying to type on the keyboard with gloves on presents it’s own challenges.
