Between the Magpul UBR and LMT SOPMOD Butt Stocks, which between the two of them would you choose for an M4A1 Carbine with a 14.5 Inches Barrel? And why?
Thanks.
PS.If there are any other Brands of Butt Stocks that you may wish to suggest, please do so.
Thanks.
For a lighter weight 14.5" AR I would use a Magpul CTR or LMT/Crane stock.
For a heavier AR like a 16" or 18" gun I would consider a much heavier Magpul UBR or VLTOR E-MOD.
On my 16" Colt AR (6721 lower) with 6920 upper, DD 9.5" FSB rail, PWS piston kit, PWS FSC556 flash hider, VLTOR offset light mount w/Surefire G2 light, Tangodown stubby grip, TROY BUIS, PRI gasbuster, Colt M16 BCG, Aimpoint M4 optic w/Bobro mount. This is a pretty heavy AR I use the VLTOR E-MOD which makes is balance out very well.

I replaced my LMT SOPMOD’s and went with Magpul UBR’s on my personal sticks because of the thinner profile and it’s fast action.
UBR’s built in swivel mounts are perfectly located for me. Which were lacking on my (older) LMT SOPMOD’s.
LMT’s newer version doe’s have a swivel mount.
UBR’s are worth every dollar of thier RETAIL price, I would hope nobody here has paid what some get on ebay…that is way out of line.
I have one on backorder right now with Grant, he estimates another month before he gets restocked.

Magpul CTR. Much lighter, does everything it needs to, locks up completely solid with easy sling attachment points. And it will take every bit of punishment the others will as well. I use mine for work, so heavier is definitely not better since I have to carry it.
I really thing we are at the edge of the envelope now with stock design, and at the end of the day the A2 is arguably the best way to go.
