Course Description

This is a fast paced, hands-on, super dynamic live fire course with minimal time spent in the classroom.
Starting with combat mindset, the class thoroughly covers:

Rapid threat analysis and acquisition
Shooting on the move
Multiple target engagement
Strong and reaction side shooting
Malfunctions
Natural and improvised shooting positions
Barricade shooting
Shooting from vehicles (client dependant)
Concealed shooting
Low light tactics
Individual and team confidence enhancement shooting drills
Individual and team live fire stress courses

Hardware/Kit
A functional carbine or submachine gun chambered in 5.56x45, 5.45x39 or 7.62x39mm or standard pistol caliber
weapon systems. If available, a spare weapon system is also an excellent idea. A cleaning kit and tools that
are compatible with the weapon system(s) in question is also a must. Each student should have a minimum of five
working magazines. Sometimes magazines will make it in your dump bag and sometimes they won’t. If they hit the
ground they can become fouled, causing weapon malfunctions and time off the line.

1800 rounds of rifle ammunition
300 rounds of pistol ammunition

Note pad, and pen/pencil
Clothing suited to strenuous type activity as well as being seasonally appropriate
Appropriate foot wear
Rain gear / cold weather gear (seasonal)
Ear pro (electronic preferred)
Eye pro, which wraps around
Clear lenses for night shoots
Baseball style hat recommended
Primary weapon sling, single point, or a good system that allows flexibility for transitions and reaction side weapon manipulations
A rig that can carry a minimum of four (4) primary magazines on your person
Functioning secondary weapon system, and three working magazines
A holster and magazine pouch that will retain your equipment when moving
Primary weapon mounted light
Secondary weapon mounted or handheld light
Spare bulbs and batteries for all lights
Tools that work on your weapon
Weapons lube
Optics will require adjustment tools and spare batteries
Water hydrating device
Knee and Elbow pads (optional)
Gloves (optional)
An open mind.

After shooting with Chris Costa at the M4C Vickers class, I would highly recommend getting some instruction from him, he’s a hell of a good guy too.

I might be able to drop by for a day, I’ll have to see how it goes.

Any one know if there is still room in this course? I am going to call them in the next couple of days

I signed up a about 2 weeks ago, trying to get a couple of my friends to do it as well but the high round count ($$) is putting them off :frowning:

Is that accurate that you shoot over 2000 rounds pistol/carbine in 2 days? That seems like a lot of shooting and money.

How much is your life worth? and how much value do you place on the lives of those around you, whom may depend on you

well i shouldnt say it like that, but yes its a lot of ammo down range and alot of money as well… but again its only money

Having shot the 3 day version of this Magpul Dynamics 2 class in November (where “The Art of the Tactical Carbine Vol 2” was filmed) I know they estimate a little high. I’d say for 2 days you won’t likely shoot more than about 1200 rifle and 300 pistol rounds.

Sorely tempted by this…

I’ll have to see if I can swing it.

So many training opportunities…so little money…

This is a level II class…I would assume that my training resume is sufficient to allow me in to this level, right?

You have enough training to be at this course.

you. are. killing. me.

magpul class w/in easy driving distance… check
birthday weekend… check
qualified to attend a Level II Carbine course… #@!$^%&*!@#$

I haven’t had any carbine training yet, so I’m SOL. Maybe next time :stuck_out_tongue:

you’re telling me.

i’m on a really short leash after last year’s binge.

indeed. i hope there’s a dynamic carbine 1 around NOVA soon.

As much as I would like to make this class and see what other disturbing psychological torments Costa can come up with, I just can’t swing it right now. I’m sure it will be an exceptionally good class and I would urge anyone eligible for it to sign up without hesitation.

If Chris can teach you to shoot as well as he can, you’ll be GTG.

Are there any slots still open?

I called them last week andthey said that the course was about half full (or half empty depending on how you look at it)

They also said that you will probably not fire all the rounds but they do recomend briging that much just incase. Sounds like a great course and I may sign up if I can fit it in

JF

I am signed up. Can some one send me directions to the range and lodging info?

TIA,

John
