Magpul CTR stock loose.

I bought a Magpul commercial CTR for my Bushmaster M4a3. When I lock the lever down that’s supposed to eliminate receiver extension to stock play it doesn’t tighten enough.
I found out by measuring with calipers that the tube is 1.16" and not 1.17" like the CTR is built for so that’s where the play is coming from.
It’s not a Magpul issue since commercial tubes are supposed to be 1.17".
Is there any way to effectively modify the CTR stock to eliminate the play?
It’ll probably invalidate the warranty but oh well.

No there’s not. Don’t reach for the dremel. Fit is simply going to vary. Change the tube if it’s that big of a deal.

I always add a piece of electrical tape. Not the most uber-tactical, but one or two pieces going length wise will tighten her up…either that or have the CTR do some keegle excercises…j/k

Try one piece of tape, if it is still loose, try another.

I agree. If it was me I would just change out the tube to the commerical. IMO:)

I’ll live with it or maybe eventually replace the tube.

You can disassemble the friction lock and tighten the metal clip that squeezes the polymer ears against the rib of the RE. Use a vice or tape the jaws of your vice grips and squeeze the clip a little at a time and reassemble till you get it right. Its easier to tighten it than loosen. Once you remove the roll pin and lever, there is a spring detent assembly holding the clip to the lever. Just slide something under there and pop it out. This should take care of the problem.
