For those looking to build the lightest possible AR is the Mag Tactical Systems AR-15 Ultra light Stripped Lower Receiver a reliable, structurally sound option to shave off a few more ounces?

Okay, my opinion - I’d go with a forged lower from a reputable outfit (BCM, Colt, LMT, Noveske come immediately to mind) than give up ANYTHING in terms of reliability or durability in the lower.
save weight in the barrel or in accessories versus worrying about how tough that lower is. is 2-3 OZ really worth it? not to me.
my .02 shekels.
Honestly, outside of bleeding edge competition or a lowest possible weight fun build, I would pass.
Not saying these threads are the be-all-end-all but might help your decision. Personally, I’d find somewhere else to shave weight.
Broke when running malfunction drills.

THE LOWER WAS OUT OF SPEC! I returned to the shop where i purchased the lower(BigShots San Diego) they tried several different uppers ALL FAILED. it was true but not surprising the new forging company made a SUB STANDARD product. not a problem right they’ll want to make it right… right? WRONG!! after two conversations with MagTech the advised that they will ship a new product with a fresh S/N to the store upon the receipt of the DEFECTIVE product the problem with this is the dro’s fee’s which I’m told by MagTech I will have to absorb with out any assurance of a working product. so to summarize, I brought a over priced product that didn’t work and now I have to come out of pocke to maybe make it work. If this has happened to you please feel my pain if not stay the F@*k away from MagTech!!
Just checked my magtactcial lower as well. And the rear pin is hair off. It will fit with little bit of hammering. But it seems like the left side of the upper and lower doesnt line up at all either. Im going to take it back to the store and see what they say
