Just picked up a new Colt 6920. comes with 2 Colt 20 round mags. Need some advice on additional mags. Do 30 rounders function reliably. Also, what make magazines are reliable in this rifle? Do I need to stick with Colt?
Absolutely not!
That 6920 will run nearly any mag you want to put in it. I would recommend you pick up some Magpul PMAGs or if you want USGI style, try the D&H mags with Magpul followers that Bravo Company sells. Lucky for you, they are in stock, right now. If you are in the market for mags, I wouldn’t wait as they always sell out quickly.

30rd mags function reliably but with a magpul follower they will be better. I would get Pmags and call it a day. If you want to mix it up get some USGI mags and put magpul followers in them. You could also spend extra money and buy HK mags but honestly if you can’t get a good deal on them they are not worth it. Best of luck and enjoy, make sure you clean all the cosmoline off and run a few patches through the barrel.
Using:
GI mags, BCM, Brownells, all w/ Magpul followers, 28 rounds.
PMags, 28 rounds. 20rd PMag is GTG at capacity.
TD Arc mags, 30 rounds.
My early CP SS mags are still going strong, but reports from more recent production vary widely.
