machine down a mid weight barrel ?

hello.

i have a CMMG midweight 16’’ 1-7 twist barrel.

i set this barrel up as a dissipator, style carbine, but she’s nose heavy.
wondering ? if i was to machine her down , will it hurt it ?

will taking metal off stress relived, open up the bore diameter?

Reprofiling is popular and inexpensive, and will have no detrimental effect on that barrel.

Whether or not you should, or if it’s the most economical way to get the barrel you want, depends. Contemplate the current value of your barrel. With some, you could sell or trade them and get into the barrel you want for somewhere between a smaller net loss than reprofiling and a net gain.

Measure twice, cut once, then send to ADCO if you want to re-profile.
