Hey guys how many of you have broken your castle nut wrench tooth? I have over the last five years of being in the corps broken three of these. One DPMS, one PROMAG, and unsure of the other. They all cost me on average $20.00
Seems as they all make them out of very cheap metal and there stamped out. I made a few out of stainless on the cutting laser and want to know if guys out there might use these or if I’m just to abusive to my gear.
other thing i noticed is that the armorers wrench is solid but way to BIG! I do not want that monster in my range bag, or in my deployment tool box.
Sears and Home depot both carrier 3/8 torque wrenches. I prefer using 3/8 torque wrench on everything but the mains , head bolts , flywheel and harmonic balancer I use 1/2’’ . Everything else I tend to use a 3/8’’ torque wrench if I can.
I’m tired of marred castle nuts and scracthed buffer tubes and am looking for a new wrench.
How does the Hammerhead tool fit into most extension nuts? My current wrench only has three lugs and it seems the main problem is that its lugs are too narrow to interface properly with the corresponding grooves in most available castle nuts. This poor fit allows the wrench to slide around when force is applied. This will invariably result in a marred nut and an occassional scratched tube.
