Picked up a M&P 9mm Full size and I’m really liking it, but the trigger guard rubs my firing hand middle finger the wrong way and I feel like if I had just a bit more realestate on the front strap I could grip the gun better.
Does anyone have before and after pics of how much material they have taken off under the trigger guard around the mag release? I’ve worked up STI 2011 grips before, but I’m a bit hesistant to doing the same on this one since it is the serialized part.
Surprised that Google only found one good pic for me.
Doug,
From looking at the close up picture, it seems that you just radiused the lowered area of the trigger guard. Is that a correct guess ?.
Great work on the trigger guard and the slides.
I would actually recommend not using a dremel. Only takes a second to really mess it up.
I use a dowel rod and wrap sandpaper around it. I did the same thing Doug did, I made sure I rounded it nicely. Seems more important to me than raising it.
I used a dremel and didn’t wreck my gun. Dremel has some fine heads and you can run it on slow. I left it a bit thicker on the off-hand side, with it really thin where the strong-hand middle-finger comes in.
I do have to say maybe next time I’ll try a rod+sandpaper though. Looks really clean and nice.
