So I have purchased a DPMS LRT-SASS, my first entry into the longer range rifles, this is something i plan on using on some longer ranged, up to 300 yards, and possible further if I can find them. I will be the first time admit, I dont know what type of scope I need, having never really ventured into this realm. I dont plan on shooting this at night ever, so I dont really need an illuminated scope, but I want something that has a quick distance range dial, do they make one that is set for 7.62/308? I have, at max, around $800 for optics.
Any suggestions for me?
For the 300 yard range, the Burris XTR 1.5x-6x with the 7.62 BDC is a good option. If you want greater distance, I recommend the Nightforce 2.5x-10x32 with the Velocity, NPR, or the Mil-Dot reticle depending upon your training and comfort level.
I really enjoy Bushnell’s Elite 4200 and 6500 “Tactical” Scopes. 30mm Tubes with Side Focus Parallax Adjustments. For the money, you will be very pleased. I am thinking that the Elite 4200 6X24X50, SF, & 30mm Tube can be had for around $500.
So this is a good one to go with, for the price?

I would look around for a used Leupold Mark 4 for that price range? I picked up a really pristine 4.5 x 14 for around $700 and I just ordered a vx-3 2.5 x 8 for 400ish. Really can’t go wrong with Leupold. There is better glass out there but you have to bring more money.
