Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who was elected to the Senate in 2002 and was a close political ally of President Donald Trump’s, has died, his office confirmed early Sunday. He was 71.

Graham died Saturday night “from a brief and sudden illness,” his office said in a statement.

Emergency personnel responded to a call for “cardiac arrest” at Graham’s Capitol Hill home on Saturday night, according to police scanner audio obtained by NBC News. EMS audio later indicated CPR was in progress.

A top staffer to Graham told NBC News early Sunday that there was no indication the lawmaker was feeling unwell prior to his death. He had been scheduled to appear on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” on Sunday.

His death comes as fellow Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell remains in the hospital after paramedics responded to a call at a known residence last month for an individual experiencing cardiac arrest.

A bit if trivia Graham replced Strom Thurman, former Grand Drago of the KKK and Democratic Senator

Why do I imagine that there might have been a mad rush to erase his internet history?

Thurmond was never a grand dragon or listed kkk member, that was Robert Byrd.

Thurmond was a Dixiecrat until 1948, a democrat from 1948 until 1964, and a republican from 1964 until 2003.

I sometimes mix my asholes up, sorry about that.
