Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who was elected to the Senate in 2002 and was a close political ally of President Donald Trump’s, has died, his office confirmed early Sunday. He was 71.
Graham died Saturday night “from a brief and sudden illness,” his office said in a statement.
Emergency personnel responded to a call for “cardiac arrest” at Graham’s Capitol Hill home on Saturday night, according to police scanner audio obtained by NBC News. EMS audio later indicated CPR was in progress.
A top staffer to Graham told NBC News early Sunday that there was no indication the lawmaker was feeling unwell prior to his death. He had been scheduled to appear on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” on Sunday.
His death comes as fellow Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell remains in the hospital after paramedics responded to a call at a known residence last month for an individual experiencing cardiac arrest.
It seems that the IRGC now has claimed they hit the Senator. I have seen ZERO evidence of this being true. I also have seen ZERO evidence that it isn’t true.
I saw it speculated on another site that Putin had him whacked, seeing as he just left Ukraine. Who knows. I do think a thorough autopsy is in order though.
If he got whacked, we need to totally “Rethink” about the way we negotiate Internationally. My great fear was they would whack Vance during the Iranian negotiations.
If they got Graham things will prove to be very, very intresting.
Kash Patel has said the FBI is “assisting local authorities” after the death of Senator Lindsey Graham.
The 71-year-old Republican died from a “brief and sudden illness” Saturday night, his office said. Emergency dispatch audio revealed that paramedics were called to the senator’s Washington, D.C., home around 8:30 p.m. in response to a cardiac arrest.
FBI Director Patel remembered Graham as a “devoted public servant, a fierce defender of our nation, and a true patriot who dedicated his life to the people of South Carolina and the United States” in a statement Sunday.
“The FBI is assisting local authorities and has made every necessary resource available,” Patel wrote in his post on X.
I was reading that he was the first in his Family to go to University and while there his Parents died. He then raised his Sister while in the National Guard and College.
I would guess that a lot of folks have misjudged and under rated him over the years. Half a Spoon of Sugar too Sweet but, argues and fights like a Pit Bull.
I don’t know, he impresses me like a Guy that walked the walk. Compare and Contrast to Pelosi.for instancee?
