LGS - FN Sale - Arresting Powers Only?

I do not have 200 posts, been here couple years though, but cannot post in GD. I know this is the AR general discussion, and yes, I used search function first several times. Move if you would, to GD.

That being said… At the local gun store few days ago, I was surprised to see they had a PS90 on the wall, and a couple FN pistols in the counter. Curious, I inquired what the price was, and it was reasonable. Interest spiked now, I commented that I was surprised to see anything left, as the shelves were bare of all forms of AR’s.

The gun store owner comments, that they can only sell FN products to people with “arresting powers only.”

I asked if it was fully automatic (looked like a normal PS90), he said no. My response :confused:.

Anyone heard of this, or was he just being stupid?

MAY be a “policy” of the gun store though - in which case, I’d look at doing business elsewhere.

It was shipped to the LGS under their Law Enforcement purchase program I’d bet. They have that here and that firearms goes for $900 I believe. The officer can purchase it privately under the assumption it’s for work at the discounted rate.

FN isn’t only company that does this. SW does as does Glock theoretically with the blue label guns.

Blue label Glocks are $399 if purchasing as an LEO. I’ve bought M&Ps for the same price the same way.

I picked up many an fn and glock at LE only price.

The manufacturer does this and if one of the dealers sells to non le/mil, and fn finds out they pull their products. Seen it happen locally.

You weren’t at FCO’s were you? If so I saw the same thing. They do exactly as stated above. Many gun stores can set up accounts with a few manufacturers to do this but few actually stock much, around here anyway.

FWIW the last time I drove north to a large LEO supply I purchased a Glock 19 under that program. It was 421.00 plus 50.00 for nite sites plus tax. I think it was about 520.00 out the door. You still fill out the 4473 or whatever it is nowadays and the only savings was the 3rd magazine. This was about 2 years ago.

Went to Buds LE Supply to put an AR-10 on my wish list: not even listed anymore.
Same with their Colt, S&W M-P 15 lines, etc., right down the line with no explanation. :angry:

Buds sent an email to their customers recently indicating they’d taken a lot of high demand products entirely off the site due to completely unknown lead times and the risk of oversells.

I don’t blame them, since replenishment inventory will almost certainly be more expensive.

Hmm, OK, as a LE Supply customer of theirs I never got one-maybe it hit my Spam folder and I dumped it. Oh well. Looks like I’ll wait a bit longer for my Armalite.

It was just a local small business store. I was just curious if this was a normal practice of if the store was being stupid, but since it appears to be common practice (so-to-speak), then I’ll continue to do business with them.
