Larue 13.2 or Daniel Defense 14.0 ?

I’m trying to decide on a hand guard to go and I know this is a “can’t go wrong with either” situation, but I’m wondering what things I should be considering between these two

i like the vtac and others, but am thinking one of these makes sense, but at the same time should I consider a shorter handguard and a flip up front gas block sight instead of the longer handguard?

Any considerations between these two?

just keep in mind they’re both heavy. it really is a “cant go wrong” situation… the 14"s are hard to get ahold of, whereas larue is shipping pretty quick. i got my 11" in 1 week, after being ETA’d two to four, and have heard good reports from others.

Yeah, they both seem to be a little over a pound, and they both are about the same length, although the larue would not quite cover the gas block and it leaves the top rail with a gap, but it also adds a sling connect that the DD doesn’t.

it’s a toss up. Even price is within $30.

if I went shorter, like a 12", then that opens more options, but then it also means the gas block is exposed.

hmmmmm…

Which installs easier, locks up better, holds up better, etc? Either have any sort of advantage?

thanks for the reply.

where are you finding the 14"? I haven’t even seen them available for quite a while. someone was selling a used one here not too long ago, but that’s all i’ve seen.

i’ve installed both- both lock up without doubt. the larues reportedly sink heat a bit better. both are pretty straight forward- just follow the instructions (if you even need to). the only trouble i’ve ever had was installing a larue on a MUR… the port-side lockplate screw didn’t want to angle in, but i installed it in a hurry and haven’t ever bothered to read the instructions- might be that could have been avoided by setting the screw in there before cinching it down.

the larues are really low-pro. i can wrap my hand completely around 'em, and i personally like that. good positive grip.

the DD’s i have/have had are their FSB/FSBM and FDE rails, for special purposes. DD makes some great special purpose rails, but i think larue is probably the better straight black rail. i think id go with larue on this one, if it was my build.

pm’d you

Here ia a Larue 13.2 on an 18" middy. Hope this helps. I like how this rail gets the bipod way out there.

Thanks, that helps a lot. I appreciate the picture.

Anyone have any shots of the 13.2 larue on a 20" with rifle gas?

Regarding the Daniel Defense LITE Rail 14.0

I like the DD rail because you don’t have the gap between the receiver and the rail.

One nice thing about the Larue is it has integrated QD swivel cups. Both rails are solid choices, I would go with what was easier to get in this case.

On WEVO, Stickman posted these DD LITE 14.0 Rail pictures mounted on an 18" barrel rifle setup:

Hey Molon, is that a Larue gas block?

Thanks Molon. Thanks everyone else for the feedback.

Affirmative.

Good choice - You may even get some extra goodies from Larue - Mmmmmm Dillo Dust…

Thanks
