I’ve been thinking hard about buying an SR-15 and while I’m leaning toward the standard issue black, taupe isn’t my thing. I am at least somewhat intrigued by the green and silver color options. Has anyone seen these in person? I’m interested in thoughts on how those colors look in person vs online. Buds has a green one available now, and a local dealer has black, hence my timing.
Taupe may not look impressive in some photos, almost like it was caked on if that makes sense. If you see one in person though, it is beautiful. Next purchase will definitely be a taupe one.
As far as the green goes here is a nice picture from a user on here. Even has it right beside a black SR15 for comparison.
I have the green, and I like it more and more each day - much more than I anticipated. I looked at the taupe side by side to the green when I bought. I wanted something a little different, since everything seems to be FDE these days. I swapped out the black panels, grip and stock for green, which really brings it alive. Plus, its a great shooter! The green is Cerakote and the taupe is Duracoat. The Cerakote seems harder and less paint-like than the Duracoat.
Do you like it and would you buy it again? I do get that I can get it painted whatever I like, I probably won’t go through that until the original finish gets worn down, which may be never.
I thought the colored ones looked terrible from the pics I saw previously however these look pretty good. I’d probably still go with black, easier to sell if you ever wanted to IMO.
I just bought a taupe SR-15. I was torn between it and the green finish. The taupe gun is very monochrome. The green is better balanced. I live in the desert, though, and taupe was best for me. Looks aside, it shoots wonderfully well. That is obviously the most important thing.
Totally agree, that looks really classy where their blog pic looks not nearly as nice. Now I really want the silver! Thanks for the pics, those are great!
