Does any one have an improved battle zero for 16" barreled .308/7.62mm carbines? I just got a FAL with a 16" barrel and was wondering at what range should I zero my aimpoint at. With the new LMT 7.62 and SCAR H becoming available, I’d think this topic would be on a lot of peoples minds.
No one has any imput or recommendations on a good zero/BZO?
On my 16 inch DS Para, Socom and SR-25 with a T1, I use a 50 yard zero. That puts me a few inches high at 100, with a second zero between 200 and 225 yards. On similar guns with an optic with more magnification, I zero at 200, since a 200 yard zero is the basis for my 300, 400, 500 and 600 yard drop numbers.
I generally run a 100 with the SR-25 and T-1.
Thanx guys. GMJ does your DSA Para have the Para Flip rear sight. I just got a DSA carbine and I hate the low Belgian type sights. Can’ get a real good sight picture. I was wondering if the Para sight might sit a little higher? I’m hoping that and a new tall front sight post might improve things.
i found all my weapons use a 50 yds base zero- scope or irons ,it lets you range more with mil-dots and irons easier …yes it app.1.5’'high at 100 yds so what and in at ‘‘between 200 and 225 yards’’ so now from ‘‘0’’ to app. 200 to 225 is hit easy no sweat --scope with/on low magnification the same way …
My Para is about 2500 miles southeast of me right now, but it is a dual aperture arrangement, marked “150” and “250” on the two apertures. I used the aperture marked 150 to zero at 50 yards, and then spent most of my time with the T1.
Thought I’d bring this back up since very shortly, it’s going to be relevant to my interests. Has anyone actually run a nomograph on it and figured out what the flattest MPBR zero is going to be for 150gr ammo?
I like 30/225 zeros for 308.
I like 4" high at 100 yards that keeps me dead on to 300 yards and only 14" low at 400 yards.
This is what I was thinking - though somewhere in the back of my mind I was thinking 37/250 for some reason.
I was playing with my RDS on top of my ACOG the other day. With the large offset, a 50 yrd zero is even more important with the large offsets. My 25yrd zero hit 12 or more inches high at 100 yrds. FYI, This was on my Colt 5.56
The 50 yard zero reigns supreme for offsets.
I think people will be running a lot of Offset with the new LMS, so this topic may be good timing.
