Just noticed in the Widener’s mass email that they have some IMI Mk262Mod1 clone type stuff, and I’m definitely interested in giving this a try for replacing my now dwindling stock of BH 77gr stuff, especially at the price they’re listing it right now. I run IMI ammunition for every other task, so this is obviously appealing, but I’ll probably also wait to see if the price goes down. Should I just skip that wait, and get some while IMI is still able to make that load for export uses and it’s available?
Comparing apples to apples here:
IMI @ $16.50 a box x 2.5 = $41.25 per 50rd. box
BH red @ $54.95 per 50rd. box (SGammo.com)
You can almost afford another 20rd box of the IMI for what the BHs cost…to me that makes a significant difference.
I’d love to try out this new IMI stuff, so I say go for it now…just order a limited amt. for initial testing.
If I didn’t reload my 77gr ammo now, I’d be giving this a try for sure.
Didn’t know IMI produced it actually.
If you decide to pickup some give us a report on how it performs.
I think this is a recent thing, but I figured I wouldn’t be the only one looking at this ammo as a replacement stash ammo - I just need to decide how much to go for of this right away - and then if it’s good, downsize the stuff I stock to only the IMI M193, M855, and this.
You are probably safe in buying just a few boxes now to test drive it and get more later if you like it.
Wideners has had the IMI M193 in stock now for well over a month. Apparently not many takers @ $508.00 per 1,200rds.
There was a time when it all flew off the shelf in a days time but, it was cheaper then.
ive shifted all my ammo to different application(mid weight) but the IMI stuff should live up to expectations based on my past experience with the 55 grain ball ammo they sell.
they have excellent qc,plus any of the IMI m193 ive shot has been alot more accurate than other manufacturers.
i dont think you will go wrong choosing the IMI over black hills especially for what the price difference is.
its almost tempting me to buy astash of it.
Same here. If you buy the full case doesn’t it come out to .32 per round or so? Not bad considering the bullet alone is over 0.20 just to buy as a component.
I’m definitely going to buy a few boxes to test it out. Needed some steel from Wideners anyway, so it’s easy to tack some ammo to the order.
Crap… I’d love to disect, Chrono, and shoot some of this. I bet they’re running a ball powder like BH. I like to run extruded, but Ball is pretty much standard for a mil type load.
Maybe I’ll grab some too if it stays in stock for a while.

$390/500. .78 per round…plus shipping.
Unless I looking at the wrong stuff…?

WOW! Fork that! I did my math based on 1k. I should have known that was too cheap for an SMK. Been out of the market too long I guess.
Yeah I thought you were looking at one of the numbers wrong.
Even the M193 is .42 each.
I’d love to add some more of the M193 to my stash but, I just can’t stomach the cost.
No doubt. Nothing loaded with a 55 gr FMJ is worth 0.42/round.
Agreed, the M193 isn’t priced to sell at all. Since I don’t reload, this is quite tempting for Mk262 type stuff. If IMI start making an Mk318 clone, I will likely be all over that.
If it’s good stuff and shoots accurate… $0.78 for new manufacured, Match ammo with a real SMK isn’t an obscene price.
It’s nice to see another choice come on the market. I wish the price difference was a little bigger, at least until this stuff proves itself, but $0.78/rd is not that bad for Mk262mod1 (if it indeed performs as well).
