AFAIK Turks showed first prototypes before Kel-Tec presented theirs, then they were moving their company registration to UK for some reasons before going to market with shotgun. It just took them longer to get to US with that.
That’s pretty cool. I hope the quality and relability is better than the KelTec.
I do not know KelTec, but I do not hold my breath for this one either. Time will tell.
What’s wrong with the Keltec? I know their smaller pistols are known to have issues but the KSG and the bullpup rifle seem pretty solid, haven’t seen many complaints, but admittedly I haven’t been searching.
“New”. Pfft. A direct descendant from the Neostead. And it’s been publicly shown easily since the KSG first was.
Keltec’s KSG has a MAJOR flaw imo. The same issue all bullpups have, reloading, except that instead of jamming a mag up into that hard to reach armpit area, you’re trying to single load 12ga shells into one of three holes. Fuck that. I posted a link to Nutnfancy’s video where they literally had to sit on their fucking asses to reload the KSG, then it took them over a minute to clear a malfunction (on a pump gun I might add) because you can’t get to the chamber on it. Hard to load, no exposed chamber, no ammo changeovers, hard to combat load, … Looks great in theory… will fail in practicality.
This gun which almost certainly has it’s own unique issues… has an open chamber from the side, you can clearly see and access each tube, you can also see the ammo remaining while shooting… I don’t know. I’m not sold on the concept because loading still looks ghey…
But this at least appears to be a better gun than the KSG, although I like the KSG styling better (uh, I am talking about keltec still right? threw up a little in my mouth just there).
Agreed. The Keltec looks “cleaner”, but based off the reviews I will never see myself actually owning it. I saw the Nutnfancy video also. I had to laugh.
You need to search. The KSG and the RFB are disasters of such epic proportions that dogs and cats are starting to live together.
To top it off, Kel-Tec has practically non-existent customer service.
Only issue I knew of on the RFB was that even suppressed it was still like 155-160db.
To me, any company that has a product so in demand as the KSG (rightfully so or not) and doesn’t actually step up to make it, shouldn’t be trusted. Go Big Or Go Home… Unless you’re product is a disaster, and in that case just release them slowly and hope the people that are paying 2k for them don’t notice they’ve been duped.
But back on topic, I’d love to see the UTS15 styled a little better. I hear they are much lighter than they look… better be, because it looks like it’s 20lbs.
Yea it does, it almost looks like a “space gun” to me. It was around 7 lbs or so. It’s all poly, it’s not as heavy as it looks.
I just thought it was cool. As far as practical shotguns go, I prefer a clean pump gun - technology from the 50’s.
It makes me wish I was hired to be the weapons director for a science fiction movie.
I’m not knocking you, it is cool. It just has real world issues that you’ll never hear about from the KSG krew, or marketing literature.
I will say I hate the styling of it. That pump should be coaxial to the barrel, up another 2"-3" instead of dropping down like a diaper. The stock needs to lose a little mass. It’s just not a good looking gun, sci-fi, but not in the way the Steyr AUG is, that’s good design because you look at it today and think that’s future and cool looking, but it was designed in the 60s. But… style aside, I think this is a better firearm than the KSG.
I’m curious how the recoil management is going to be. I know of the KSG it was knocked a lot for how bad the recoil was. My guess is that it’s going to be similar.
The KSG and UTS seem like gimmicks to me - solutions in search of a problem. If you want practical, we have a long history of tube-fed semis and pumps; if you want tacticool there’s the Saiga, Vepr and MKA 1919. The latter seem to have their share of issues under hard use - but affordable tube semis do as well.
I’d guess that the company that introduces a reliable American-made box-fed shotgun will be Scrooge McDucking it in their pile of gold.
