According to the Left, this is entirely correct. Blacks have no power, and therefore can’t oppress anybody. So they can’t be racists.
Whites, on the other hand, have always been in positions of power, thereby oppressing minorities at every oportunity. Therefore, whites are racists.

Actually in the last two days, starting with my OP, that mirroring Biden’s comments yesterday, I’m noticing a shift in the pro-Obama narrative in the press and I wonder if its not being orchestrated by the Obama campaign.
From the “yes we can” optimistic change…to the the negative anti-Republican message of “turning back the clock” (to segregation, to the Cold War, to an ugly past).
Since the “change we can believe in” has been proven ineffective, they’re trying to represent McCain as a man out of step with the times and that a vote for him would effectively restart the Cold War.
Never mind that if there is another Cold War, it won’t really be a choice we make, but rather a recognition of the reality of realpolitik. Never mind the fact that Obama’s candidacy represents remarkable racical progress in our nation. Never mind that EVEN IF the Republicans wanted to turn back that clock to our past(a dubious proposition that Pelosi nonetheless argued this morning on MTP) no one, least of all a political party or president, has the power to do this.
But hey, never let the facts get in the way.

Obama would have been better off if he could have convinced Powell as his running mate in many circles but I doubt an all Black ticket would get off the ground, unfortunately. Maybe he could have spoken with Ron Paul??? Many “fear” him, too. We’re doomed with what we have. Now we have to choose.
Why would Ron Paul have anything to do with Obama, or vice versa? Obama wants to buy our enemies off with foreign aid, Ron Paul wants to stop ALL foreign aid to friends and foes alike. Never mind gun control, Obama is certainly for it, and Ron Paul would advocate following the constitution word for word, with zero federal regulation. They differ greatly on almost every issue imaginable.

as an independent I’ve always voted the issues, track records, and how well they “play together” to get stuff done. Last go round i nearly pulled the dem switch to vote dem across the board, because i was so disgusted with bush and the repubs supporting him. This time it’s the dems that are disgusting me. We gave them the power in the house and the senate, and they pissed it away, without even trying to work together to get something constructive done.
I’ll split my vote in all likelyhood, but no way will i vote for Obama. Black white red brown i don’t care; his style is pathetic, his experience is embarrassing, and his direction is completely wrong.
Even more telling is the public perception. The current POTUS has nearly the lowest rating of any president, the economy is scraping along, job security and financial security is pathetic, and people have enough common sense to not consider a person based on his historic role in American society. Maybe there’s hope for us after all.
As for the author of the article Jacob Weisberg, do a simple google search and you will see that he is so rabid anti bush, that he probably has nightmares just trying to spell “Republican” in his rag.
