I don’t know if I even want to get into it.
Great visuals, bad story…
Don’t ask about the weaponry…

I am going to see it tomorrow at 11:30 AM. (Don’t laugh)
I have been waiting for this movie to come out for some time now, so I will still go.
Hope you are wrong:D
How can I be wrong? I already saw it…
The movie LOOKED good, except for the Back to the Future type futuristic cars.
The “futuristic” weapons were bad but the “antique” weapons were good.
The modern police units were using XM8s in black and the actual military was using SA80/L85s. I didn’t quite get it…
Too bad Clive Owen only had a set of balls in Sin City and nothing else…
Me and a buddy saw “Apocalypto” over Christmas leave. It was incredible. I’m surprised Hollywood has any fake blood left to use. Zero Wolf, the main bad guy, was a major hard case. I hope I can do all that stuff when I’m in my forties. Remember “Last of the Mohicans”? Just imagine being chased by an army of Maguas. USMC should alter uniform regs to allow the wear of human jaw bones in lieu of chevrons!
I wanted to see “Children” too, the Spanish guy who directed it is supposed to be really good. We kicked it around and watched Apocalypto.
Also, I watched “Narc” w/ the Mrs. last night. One of my faves.
I went to see CoM this weekend, after the wife mentioned that one of the reviewers mentioned that it was “the new Bladerunner.”
Being a HUGE fan of BR, I went.
I was underwhelmed, and BR is still MUCH better than this movie.
It was good, but not great, and didn’t live up to all of the hype, IMO.
I don’t think he meant ‘wrong’ as in you don’t know what you’re taking about but that he hopes his idea of a good movie is different than yours. At least that’s the way I understood it.
Yes, I meant to say, “I hope I have a different opinion.”
And after watching it I thought it was great.
Great story, that is what attracked me to it in the first place.
Great cast. Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, Michael Cain, and Claire-Hope Ashitey were great.
I did not see any “futuristic” weapons. Government forces had G36 or XM8s (not sure) along with SA80s and HK pistols. Underground forces had AR-15s, Berretta pistols, AKs, along with various other weapons. But I did not really pay attention to the weapons.
BTW: The movie is set in 2027
Vehicles were current cars made to look futuristic. Sort of looked like Suburus and Scoin Xbs with added fiberglass and paint.
The only part that I thought was wierd was the music that Michael Cain plays, but the movie audience laughed when he played it.
Other than that it was great. Good drama, action (action seens on par with Saving Private Ryan in my opinion), suspense. I highly recommend it.
I might go see it again:D
Edit to add: A preview for The Kingdom was shown. Looks good. Here is the plot outline. “A team of U.S. government agents is sent to investigate the bombing of an American facility in the Middle East.” And Michael Mann wrote the story.

I thought Clive Owen did a great job in Inside Man and King Arthur, I do not remeber him in Sin City. And according to IMBD he will be in Sin City 2.

He was the guy helping the mercenary whores dump Benicio Del Toro’s body in the tar pits in Sin City.
I knew what you meant when you said “wrong” as in you hoped it would be different for you.
I hate “quest” type movies and bad futuristic junk bondod or taped to current cars. Come on, we’re not THAT stupid to not see right through the crap…
But, at least they didn’t go overboard.
Yes, the SWAT/Police at the train areas early on had Black XM8s and later on the regular army was using SA80s…
Clive Owen was good in “Closer” with Julia Roberts, the princess from Star Wars (the new ones) and Jude Law. Whatserface ends up stripping at a club and there are some good scenes for pausing on the DVD to admire the scenery.
I did like the previews for the Ryan Phillipe Spy Movie with Chris Cooper but can’t stand the tool Insurance salesman from The Unit!
What else had the pregnant girl from CoM been in?
Not much.
1# Exodus (2007) (filming) … Zipporah
2# Children of Men (2006) … Kee
3# Shooting Dogs (2005) … Marie
