I am trying to get my Dad a new rifle. I really need some help choosing one. I want to get the best I can while staying under just $2k. It needs to be up to par on a duty/ patrol level.
I am looking to get a new complete rifle. I am not looking to add different uppers and lowers right now. I know the gun market makes this very hard so consider that we are not in this current state. If I could buy one of these with no problems right now, which one would be the best choice overall? For those of you that truly run guns hard, please chime in with your opinions.
I have been looking at:
LMT Standard (I have one but now cannot find any)
LMT MRP or MRP Piston
Colt 6920
Colt 6940
Daniel Defense DDM4
LWRC- Probably goes over the $2k
Possibly Noveske but I believe I would be going over the $2K then.
Thanks for any help you can offer. It is much appreciated.

why no BCM? They’re actually cheaper than LMT uppers and just as good. You just have to be vigilant with email notices, as with just about any ar15 related gear these days. Ah, i see you wanted a complete. Sorry for not catching that but you may have to mix and match to have it now.
My impression from a great deal of reading what the serious users on this forum have to say is that all of those choices are good ones. It may come down to what features you want, at what price, with what availability.
I ordered an LMT MRP (DI) because I knew I wanted a middy with FF rails, and $1500 seemed like a good value given the cost to upgrade a more basic model. It will have been a 19-week wait, though, if it shows up when estimated.
My recommendation would be the Noveske, I got my Recce for a little under $2k. The problem with Noveske is the wait times and availability.
Where are you located? If you’d like to buy a NIB LMT send me a PM
Great idea for dear ole dad! Just another thought – if he’s getting on a bit in years, might be nice to try to leave some room in the budget for a red dot optic… eyesight starts to go…
I have the DD M4 and it is a well made rifle. The rails and sights are great too. At around 1600 you can then get some mags and ammo included in your budget.
I would not hesitate to jump all over one of the new Daniel Defense M4-2000’s, and I mean now, before they go out of stock. The future looks grim for civilian AR related purchases, so I would buy one…NOW!
The Daniel Defense has all of the desired “MilSpec” features, it is priced right (especially for everything included for the asking price of $1600), and it is super light for a railed handguard equipped carbine.
Paying a premium for a Colt right now (currently $1700-$2500) is poor economics in my opinion. I would highly recommend the others on your list LMT, Noveske, etc. as well, but they are nearly impossible to find right now, and if you do find one, you will pay a premium for it ($500-$1000+ over list). While the other choices on your list have a longer track record for quality & reliability, Daniel Defense took NO short cuts when putting together their first complete rifle offering, and I would not hesitate to carry one “on-duty”.
Relax, man. I don’t have dates or anything, and it probably won’t be until later in the year if it happens. But I know BCM has put out at least one full rifle with their logo on the lower.
Yeah, that’s a gun they use for display purposes, the lower was made special with their logo on it, similar to how you can call up Anvil Arms or other places and get anything you want on the side of a lower. This was discussed elsewhere on here, and I think it came directly from Paul that they won’t be making their own rifle for some of the same reasons that Magpul isn’t making anymore lowers. I just thought you had some new, credible info. I am relaxed, I was just waiting for your reply, so any rumors could be squashed. Please have substantial, verified info before making statements like that.
