How to get an sbr stamp

I am about to start my paperwork to get a tax stamp for my sbr. I have seen links to forms that need to be filled out but they are all invalid and don’t help. I would like to find an up to date checklist with active links to legit forms. Do I need to print out fingerprint cards on my own or will the ones at the police department work? Also can I just print out a current picture of me on the right size sheet and be good to go as well? A step by step of how to get the tax stamp would be great, if it is still active of course. I can’t wait to get this stuff working so I can finish my patrol rifle!

Hit up the nfa section , all needed info is there.

awesome thanks man! I thought there would be one on this forum but didn’t find it until just now, thanks again

-Picture has to be passport size and meet all the passport criteria
-Forms can be downloaded at http://www.atf.gov/forms/firearms/index.html . Make sure you print the Form 1 out on both sides of one sheet of paper, not two sheets.
-Fingerprint cards are standard FBI-258 (the one with the blue lines). They’re used by most police stations. You’ll need the ORI code for the NFA branch so you can enter it onto the forms before the police department prints it out. they’ll enter the rest of the information but are unlikely to know the ORI number.

The ORI number for NFA Branch is WVATF0800

Many of your questions are answered in the two pages of instructions that come with the Form 1 you download.

A lot of the information in that thread is out of date and currently inaccurate due to changes in the ATF website, changes in the forms themselves, changes in the regulatory interpretation. Note that the thread was started in 2007. Whole new ballgame these days.

True. There should be some more up to date info towards the end though, correct?. It also gets him in the NFA sub where his question should’ve been asked.

I went the NFA trust way. I had a trust drawn up, which I then had witnessed, signed, and notarized. I haven’t had a chance to go buy my suppressor, but when I do, I’ll also fill out the form for the SBR stamp and knock them both out at the same time. It’s recommended that you wait until your paperwork comes back before you engrave your lower because it has to be spelled exactly the same as it is on the stamp. Once you make sure that nothing is misspelled, you get it engraved and you’re done.

We have an NFA section and there are countless threads describing the basic process.
