how to do the idea sbr barrel?

since it doesn’t appear that you can buy a properly ported 10.5 barrel, it looks like I’d have to find a good 16" barrel (maybe a chf FN) and have a dialed in gunsmith cut it for me. My plan is to set it up so it will cycle but not lock back on pmc and/or my indoor duty frangible ammo. Since it will be suppressed half the time, and I’ll probably just carry duty gold dot and train with 193 and 855, I should be good to go

*start at a 67 port and go from there

Why not just get an adjustable gas block? It would probably be cheaper. You can get a micro moa baby govnah drilled out to .071 for about $60.

JG, I really wouldn’t obsess over the port size. I have a DD10.3 from Merchant, I don’t know or care what the port is. Mark and I have run it can / no can and it does not gas you to death. I have run a bushmaster SBR that required a gas mask, so I know how bad it can be. None of mine cause such over gassing problems, Colt 6945 and LMT10.5. Noveske 11.5 SS is my smoothest shooting gun. None of my guns run an adjustable. Just buy a high end barrel and rock that bad boy. Mark and I have run about 10 SBR’s and only 1 that I can remember needed a adjustable block.

Good luck Buddy.

+1 for LMT 10.5 no can AND can…just get a BCM GF CH with the lil gas buster ridge and be GTG
