How to aim with ar 15 iron sites?

I’ve searched and all I’ve found is how to zero. But how do u aim with iron sites? Where does that fsp need to be in the rear ring? Do I center the tip of the fsp in the ring? For reference I have a rear troy rear site and f marked fsb

This is how I learned. USMC Marksmanship Manual.

Teach a fish to eat a man and feed him a rod and reel, or something to that affect.

aquajon, great link, thank you for posting that.

thanks, just read it and thats what i was doing just wasnt sure. and i read the zeroing sticky and just one question to make sure but if im reading it correctly is is saying to zero in at 50 yards and youll be good for any range up to 200 yards??

More like 225 yards, but it is essentially correct. There is about 40 pages on the 50/200 yard zero, and any other range. They also discuss how to zero both Irons and Red Dot sights, if you use the yellow search button at the very top of any page. :https://www.m4carbine.net/gtsearch.php?cx=003496919632624929056%3Adhiwgm0hbaa&cof=FORID%3A10&ie=UTF-8&q=50%2F200+yard+zero&sa=Search&siteurl=www.m4carbine.net%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D74692#941

The 50/200 yard/meter and 100 yard zeros are the most common, with the edge in popularity going to the 50/200 zero. Whichever you decide to use, know your holdovers at ranges beyond your chosen zero (300, 400, etc…).

From my understanding, 50 yd is getting popular, because many people seems to have problem with seeing targets at 100 yd. Even myself with bad eyes.

Actually, it’s the zero’s flatter trajectory out to 225 yards (Approximately 2 & 1/2" trajectory from bore to 225 yards). Quite a few folks consider it, including myself, the most versatile and practical zero for all around use. Some may argue the same point for the 100 yard zero as well. Having bad eyes and zeroing at 100 yards, well…I doubt most folks will see their hits at 50 yards without a scope of some type, especially when the target is black, unless using a shoot-n-see. I know I can’t reliably when zeroing.

50/200 zero here.

Did the A2 rear drum modification too 8/3 -2 clicks.

ok thanks guys. i zeroed at 25 the other day just to get on target and wasnt sure how to do it quite yet. mainly seeing how different grains shot through the gun. found that the 62 grain FMJ wolfs shot best out of 55 grain FMJ wold and 55 FMJ brown bears. id like to shoot brass but damn its expensive and im on a budget ATM. when i was shooting it seemd to be ok on the windage just adjusted the FSP. but i was just resting on a shooting table without one of those nice guns rests. there were a few off to the left and right but would this most likely be from human error and not the windage being off?
