How hard is it to change a front handguard retaining cap?

I ordered a set of Magpul midlength SL handguards before realizing they are only compatible with round handguard retaining caps. I have a BCM upper with triangular handguard retaining cap. I would like to be able to use the SL handguards.

How hard is it to swap the retaining cap? I don’t have any specialized tools and have no experience working on ARs other than basic maintenance.

It’s not hard at all. It’s a job your local shop should be able to do in ten minutes.
