Congressional ethics?

The mother of all oxymorons! :sarcastic:

Dear House Ethics Panel,

What took you so long?

Sincerely,

America

As if it matters… Whats gonna happen? A letter of reprimand in his file?

This is all a joke.

Bring up real charges against him, put him in criminal court, now we’re talking.

But his constituents love him…

I think they should kick him out, but they didn’t ask me.
It will be interesting to see what they do given the election results.

Cherry Tarts rein of terror over oxymorons is finally over!!! :sarcastic:

Schadenfreude.

But his constituents love him…

He’s a great guy. Fun, funny, smart, interesting, doesn’t come off as arrogant. I lived next door to him for two years while I attended Columbia.

He’s an ass. Spoke to him face to face when I lived in NYC. Snotty, very arrogant and an air of liberal stink.

It’s not misfortune when he brought it on himself.

Who’s really celebrating? Seems most here realize this is meaningless anyways. Nothing will happen to him.

Were you on drugs when you spoke to him???

Seriously, if that is your true impression of him after knowing all of the fucked up shit he’s pulled since in office then you have your head burried in the sand my friend.

Unfortunately he will get off with a hand slap. The man should be in jail PERIOD!

Even if thrown out, he can return if he is elected again in 2 years…

So what does it matter. Dumb asses in Harlem will send him back too.

 <– This is my shocked expression!!

Those are two words that never EVER belong together.

You have NO IDEA.

No, I wasn’t on drugs Jack. You know, you can disagree with someone without hating them.

Maybe he has changed over the years. Maybe he was having a bad day. I cannot remember anyone ever speaking ill of Charlie.

I am very much saddened by his situation, self-inflicted as it is. I never agreed with his politics but I stand by what I said about Charlie.

After I graduated Columbia and left NYC Charlie called me and told me he would be in Fernandina Beach Florida for something or other and wanted to get together. I invited him to come to my mother’s house and spend an evening, to my amazement he accepted. He wound up spending the night in my mother’s humble home which amazed me as he had a fine hotel room. My mother loved him, in fact, I took her on a trip and we specifically went to DC to see Charlie. He took us to lunch in one of the dining rooms and treated me and my mother no differently than he treated fellow Congressmen.

Who said anything about hating him? I’m sorry my comment about being on drugs was sarcastically said. I do apologize if you took that literally. Sometimes the errornet has it’s ways.

My point being, in my opinion of course, is that if a man can do so many bad things behind what he deems to be closed doors and those things are illegal and have bad intentions means more to me than a “persona” that he may or may not play in public.

I feel out of all of the politicians that I’ve been around with my family ties to them in some fashion around this party or that growing up there is little honor amongst thieves. I’m talking both sides of the aisle here too. In order to be in the game they play you have to have skin in it and in my opinion have lowered ones standards/morals in doing so. This is no secret to anyone I wouldn’t think.

Charlie is a crook period. If you or I or any of the “common folk” were to do half of the stunts he has done we would be locked up without passing go and colllecting our $200 dollars. I know life isn’t fair and all, but where we have lost it as a country is allowing this type of shit to run rampant. Unfortunately for us it’s somewhat too late to change without drastic measures. YMMV.

Your tone was very harsh. Can’t disagree with with the crook statement though, it is an evident fact. It was 30 years ago when I knew him. I had forgotten that I had a problem with my scholarship at Columbia. Charlie “made a phone call” and it went away. Later someone said “Wow, you really have some connections!” I asked them what they meant. They told me Charlie put a lot of effort into solving my problem. Much more than “made a phone call.” And me a Southern white boy. How could I forget that??!! I gotta go see the old bastard. Bear in mind, I’m not defending his politics or his ethics.

Actually I think Congress hires and pays for substitutes for any discredited members to take the hand slaps for them. Then immediately votes themselves a pay raise.
