HOLY $#&*# LOOK WHAT I ALMOST GRABBED!

…and when I read “Democrat,” I thought “French!”

Clearly, we should just call them all Frenchocrats to end the confusion.

I started to say that while Grant has a Praying Mantis, that must be it’s cousin, the Pentacostal Mantis. :o

But I figured around here politics was less volatile than religion

If you put them side by side, it would look like one of those old “Sure! Unsure?” deodorant commericals

Saw this fella this evening:

My ex-wife attempted to do that with me…I knew something was wrong in our relationship at that point.

Preying Mantis are way cool, and so are your pictures.

I had never seen one until we moved to Utah and now we see them quite a bit. They tend to freak you out at first but at least they are good guys.

Hey Rogue,
A mantis is one thing…
But dude, thats just creepy.

No kidding! Spiders…AAAAAHHH!

It’s funny I found myself in the same situation a few years back while hiking in western Maryland. I was walking and heard this rattling and looked down in mid stride and straddled right over top a nice size rattlesnake. The people that where with me said they never seen a human being leap so far as I did. I thought my junk was done for sure. Talk about a scary few seconds!

I discovered this touching little interlude going on just the other day.:stuck_out_tongue:

For this poor fellow he was eaten ’ head ’ first about immediately after copulation … deliver the seed and die. Some choice ,huh and to think he spent his short ass life training for that very moment !

Great pics! The Preying Mantis has got to be one of the coolest things God created. The monks spent a lot of time watching the Mantis. There are alot of moves in Chinese martial arts named after them.

Ya’ suppose his last words were, “back that thang up mamma!!”

My little “buddy” is still hanging around. He has moved to a new spot though (that I am not a fan of). He sits above my door way looking down at you as you pass underneath.

After seeing the video of the Mantis grabbing the snake from above, I am fairly concerned that I might not make it out of my shop alive one night.

That’s funny, Iwas cleaning the garage yesterday and found one on my bench. I moved him outside to the shrubs.

It’s just a cute little bug!! Don’t be such a baby.

Is it fair to say that he “Came and went at the same time”? :stuck_out_tongue:

Grant, you need some giant hornets to get rid of it:

Mute the thing.

Not as fearsome as Grant’s buddy, but this guy made me jump when I went to put the trash out this morning.

Discovered that caterpillers are hard to take pictures of.

Grant, catch a grasshopper & toss it in front of the mantis. Then, watch what happens.
