Holster/MRDS ?

I have a question for those using a MRDS on handgun. What holster are you using? I had to trim a Raven and Comp-Tac down a bit but they are working fine with my Glock 19 with a RMR.

I have a Safariland 6360 that I would like to use but I would have to remove the ALS system. My 6360 does not have a hood so I am not sure if it would clear the RMR if I bought one(a new hood) to replace the ALS. Has anyone used a Safariland with a MRDS?

i’m using an eagle/g-code that i got on sale at natchez:

works great, no alteration was needed.

13MPG–I was not clear from your post above whether you are using the Trijicon RMR or the ITI mRDS.

As noted previously toward the bottom of my third post here: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=19887, Holsters for pistols with a slide mounted RDS require a bit of thought; the best I have used so far for off-duty/CCW use are the Fricke Seraphim for AIWB & IWB, along with the Fricke Gideon Elite for OWB (http://dalefrickeholsters.com). Another good OWB holster is the Alessi DOJ-open port. A relatively cheap and easy to acquire holster that works with RDS equipped pistols is the Comp Tac Belt Holster. The Raven RCS and CCC Looper work very well after minor modification to the front edges of the shirt guard and area over the ejection port. The Holsters Plus Sure-Lock OWB retention holster can function OK with RDS sights. For overt tactical/duty carry of RDS equipped pistols, the Safariland 6004 and other SLS variants work well, but require more substantial holster modifications. Unfortunately, the typical Safariland ALS holsters do not work with RDS sights at this time, although Safariland has now introduced the 6354 ALS holster for use with 9 mm and .40 S&W Glocks using a slide mounted RDS–these work very well, but may require a slight bit of Dremel work depending on where your RDS is located on the slide.

Doc - I have a RMR on my G19. Right now the two holsters I have are a Raven and a IWB Comp-Tac. Both work very well but I really like the retention of the 6360. I have never had a handgun come out of a holster (knock on wood) but the peace of mind is great when I am hunting, riding ATVs, and hiking.

I am going to call Safariland Monday and see if I can order a hood assembly from them. If it will clear the RMR when it’s rotated forward then having to give up the ALS is not going to be such a big deal.

I checked their site but unless I am missing something I do not see how the 6354 will work with a RDS:

Thanks for the pics!

Bill Rogers told me he has designed a very special holster for the Glock 9/40 and M&P with RDS, that Safariland will show at SHOT.

The 6354DO was designed to work with a small red dot and uses a redesigned ALS system.

The new designs I am referring to are a further development of that holster concept.

Awesome, thanks for the link and clearing that up for me. Time to call Grey Group!

The new Safariland 6354 ALS for RDS equipped 9mm/.40 Glocks is the best duty holster currently available for these pistols.

The bad news is that my Glocks did not fit into these holsters since my RMR’s are mounted forward of the rear BIS.

The good news is that it is a simple 10 minute fix. The following suggestions are for a right hand holster. Remove the three black screws and take the QLS fork off the left side of the holster. Then remove the two tan screws holding the right side spring device for the ALS system. Slip the tan ALS thumb over the edge of the holster, then take a punch or small screwdriver and pop out the left side ALS hinge/axel point that extends through the body of the holster, then lift out the tan ALS device. As noted in the photo, remove 1-2mm of plastic at the leading edge of the ALS device.

Check to ensure the bottom of the ALS device appropriately locks into the ejection port.

In addition, 1mm or so of plastic needs to be removed from the holster body where the front edge of the RMR will hit.

A stock holster:

Modify as shown:

Pop the ALS device back in, seating the right hinge/axel first, followed by the left. Re-attach the other parts. Check to ensure proper ALS lock-up. Then enjoy!

Thanks for the write up Doc. My G19 also has the RMR in front of the rear sight so this will save me some time trying to figure out what to do.

Any word if they plan on releasing the holster for any other handguns?
