It looks like this just came out. Most dealers want anywhere from $3600 to $5000 for one. I’m sure the prices will probably fall and stabilize in the next few weeks. Nonetheless, I think it’ll still be significantly more expensive than the SCAR 17S and LMT MWS. Also, I think this gun uses proprietary magazines that are not cheap either. It weighs in at about 10 lbs according to the spec sheet.
Has anyone gotten one of these yet? I am curious as to how it handles and shoots. I doubt anyone’s put tons of rounds through one yet, but I’m wondering if someone’s put a few hundred or a thousands rounds through one and what they think. I’m sure this gun is probably very similar to the military HK417, but the MR762 has many parts made here domestically I think.
Why is it a dealbreaker? I just got a shipment of H&K 20 rounders in my hands and I got to say they are great. Cost a fortune, yes, but IMHO far better than a PMAG.
Only price pisses me off as a plastic mag is extremely cheap to produce in numbers and the H&K ones come with a hefty premium.
I have searched around and it looks like all I can find are unboxing and first impression reviews of this gun. I can’t find anyone who has put even a few thousand rounds downrange through theirs yet. Also, there are very very few thorough reviews of the hk417 too. I am wondering if anyone here knows much about how these are shaking out. I have heard the weight complaint over and over but that is about it.
I’ve put about a thousand through European version now. I haven’t had a single malfunction even though I have tried to use as many round configurations as possible between 123grs and 185grs. Also, using a reflex suppressor has had no effect on operation of the gun except for the bit faster cycling.
Rifle stays extremely clean. Normal maintenance is cleaning the barrel and wiping the bolt head with tissue. About a two-minute job.
Accuracywise I’ve been very happy with best groups being under half-MOA at 300 meters. 10 shot 1-MOA groups at 100 can be shot even with 123grs training ammunition. I have only 3.5x ACOG on mine, so I do not think I have pushed the gun as far as it can go regarding accuracy.
It’s hard to say anything about the gun really. It is just very solid gun and solid performer too. I haven’t come up with anything negative so far.
