High Caliber's new Recce rifle.....

Centurion has been offering this for how long?

After Centurion owner, personally carried one in conflict, got assorted vendors to agree to sell components, assembled them, validated the market viability. Some other outfit rides the coat tails… truly “fresh air”… bleh.

Sort of the point I was trying to make also. His coming out party was back in '08 when this thread was posted:

I don’t know when his website went live, but his 16" Recce barrel which is a cut down mk 12, has been an option for as long as I can remember his website being up & running.

I didn’t think Centurion offered the non-populated barrels when I purchased my ‘mk12’ barrel from HCS, 1.5 years ago. That or I am just an idiot and couldn’t navigate their website. I have to vouch for the barrel purchased by HCS. 1 shoots incredibly well, the other is still awaiting a build.

The CA website can be a little tough to navigate, especially the old one. This barrel has been available from Centurion for a while now :

I’m not trying to take anything away from HCS, as I’m confident they make some great uppers. Just trying to point out that the Recce they build is not exactly as fresh & new as it was portrayed to be. It’s been available, even if it wasn’t highly publicized. Centurion is a small company and they keep a pretty low profile. Centurion was the sole consumer market source for these until HCS came along. An upper from either company is certainly unique, based on the limited availability and quality.

An interesting fact from Centurion’s website, they perform a break in procedure on all MK12 and Recon barrels prior to shipment to the customer. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Sorry to bring this back to the dead, was doing my morning reading and I guess missed the thread back in Aug/Sept.

When I purchased mine (springtime '12 I believe) I contacted Monty first. He promptly (as always) emailed back saying he didn’t have time to get any MK12s out, which was completely fine, he’s obviously very busy. HCS was a great substitute. They were also just as attentive and quick to respond as Centurion. I don’t know anything beyond that, just my experience after dealing with both companies a few times.

Neat thread Trident, always enjoy some ‘behind the scenes’ pics.
