Help Request: Can't find any Mil-Spec 1911's locally

So all my local shops are stock odd ball 1911’s (namely citadels or way over priced used colts) and none have a Springfield Mil-Spec I’m looking to get as my first 1911. I was hoping that the mighty m4carbine community might know a web shop that has them in stock for a good price and a good reputation.

Tried searching before posting, came up dry, though I found KevinB’s thread on building one in Iraq which was pretty cool.

You might be able to find what you’re looking for on Gunbroker. It’s an auction site, so buyer beware. Other than that I don’t really know of any other place.

I’ll sell you mine for $1,500.00  Kidding, I looked at Bud’s Gun shop and here it is:

That’s a GI springer, not the one I’m looking for unfortunately, also I dislike the sights after shooting my friend’s GI as they just seem unnatural & too low to me. I’ve looked on sgcusa.com, impactguns.com, and buds and they are all sold out at the present. I’m very wary of auction sites, been burned with eBay before so I’m inherently distrustful.

Here’s what I’m looking for on buds:

Here is a stainless version:

Here is one in our local classifieds:

Maybe you can get them to ship it.

Both of those look like GI springers. The milspecs have the standard grips not the ones marked US.

I have found that Springfield does very small batches of all of their guns, that is why everyone is always out of them. If you want to send me a PM I will give you the contact info I have for Springfield and you can ask about production times.

That would explain a lot actually, PM inbound.

Is this what you are looking for? It is a Mil-Spec. This is my Stainless Steel one.

p.s. not for sale.

You can try reserving one from Bud’s or sign up for their email notification…

I just picked up a lightly used one from a local private party for $575. Previous owner had the front sight dovetailed.

I replaced the ILS with a S&A MSH, added some Ahrends Cocobolo, and will probably get a Ed Brown extended thumb safety installed… a bit outside of my skills.

This one is definitely a Mil-Spec:

I thought the Springfield Mil-Specs were basic 1911s, but with Novak cut dovetals and sites.

I guess I am lucky in my neck of the woods- $550-600 will get you a used serviceable Colt in most shops. My last two Colts came off gunbroker and were both under 600.

Where are you at in Pa.?

Nope. The Mil-Spec is a basic 1911-A1 but the slide serrations are angled and the sights are a taller 3 dot variety.

The ones with Novak sights are the Loaded models, which have other enhancements.

Montgomery County, west of the evil city (Philly). I also forgot that in a month or so, the local gun shop is happening, and though most of the booths are rip offs, there are a few that have killer deals occasionally. Thank you for all the links to used guns and all, but I’m very nervous about buying used and prefer to buy new especially due to warranty.

That said, I greatly appreciate all the help, thank you all :D.

OK, I found a local small FFL that has one in stock. I will PM you his email address.
