Help....Need genuine GI M14 barrel

I am looking for a GI M14 barrel (Maker unimportant) but prices in GB are ridiculous. Anyone know a source for less expensive GI barrels for the M14?

I am converting a Norinco into an all GI parts gun, other than the receiver.

Good luck finding a USGI barrel at a decent price.

You may want to consider a barrel from SEI, I had Ron Smith install his barrels
on my two Norincos and two Polys and the results are outstanding

Just curious about your goals…making a Chinese-receiver into a USGI gun? With that obvious fact out of the way, you don’t have to get a 40 year old USGI tube to make the gun a great tool, as H2OMAN suggests. There are several 18" and 22" modern offerings to fit the bill, chromed or SS, if you’re looking for a functional rifle.

You might try the m-14forum they are crazy about them, and so am I.

Consider these two dedicated sites

warbirds custom guns

&

rifle-company

They offer a more traditional look at the M14 rifle.
A wealth of information awaits you

thanks for the info guys! Yes I want to have an all GI rifle on a chinese receiver. Yes it will cost just as much a a springfeld armory in the end, BUT I will be able to spend the money at my own pace and not all at once. I am seriously considering a criterion barrel but I would rather have a GI barrel since I already have all the other GI parts other than the piston and a nice walnut or birch stock for when I hang the rifle on the wall. For shooting I will use the plastic one as I would not have to worry about dings and such. iwould much rather have a US made receiver but I like the forged receiver the chinese use. IF I can get an LRB receiver that’s cool too. and in that case I would use all my GI parts to build a second M14. Only time will tell but I have too many projects right now. In the mean time I will be shooting and sighting in my new rifle later this morning. Pics will follow

Your forged Chinese receiver is as close as you can get to USGI, even closer than what LRB offers.
USGI parts fit an function in/on Chinese receivers as they should. QC on Criterion is hit or miss, consider a barrel made by Wilson or a USGI barrel.

I had one problematic US made M14 type rifle … I sold it and now own 8 Chinese Norinco & Poly Tech M14s.

xcibes,

just checkin’ to see what your end goal was. I’ve owned several M1As thru the years, a Scout with NO USGI parts, and several rifles with nothing but. I did exactly what you’re doing, swapping out parts for USGI stuff, to get a ‘better’ rifle in the end. All but one are gone now, but i had it built from the bare receiver by Smith Enterprises. Expensive, but one of kind. For that rifle, I managed to score an unfired Canadian Arsenal NM (USGI contour) SS barrel several years ago, which I believe are very rare. They are out there, but prepare yoursef

Smith Enterprises is a current USGI contractor for M-14 parts… So a new standard GI style M-14 barrel from Ron Smith, would actually be a real GI barrel… He does a lot of work on GI M-14s too so you could send him your rifle and all your parts, have him install the barrel, then assemble and headspace the rifle, and repark as needed…

Just my .02
