I picked up a gen4 22 today, the ejector was unmarked and had the 0-4-1 rsa. going to put 400 rounds through it on thursday. ill report back after the range. Thanks to everyone for the feedback
What was the date the casing was collected and the seriel #prefix? Thanks and please do post a range report.
My Glock 22Gen4 Dark Earth casing was collected 3-15-2012 and seriel number is SXT*** it has the 0-4-1 rsa and a 28926 ejector as stated earlier. I think Phila PD may be right its hard to know whats going on with Glocks these days with so many changes happening.
ETA: Im reading on other places on the web that 28926 is the number designation for the unmarked ejectors so they are the same. Can anyone here confirm? Im reading also that if you have the new ejector and still have problems that the extractor is probably out of spec to replace it but keep the new ejector also make sure you use the latest rsa when using the latest ejectors. All this was from google search so I have not personally confirmed.
Prefix SHL date collection was 12-01-11, my buddy bought an FDE GEN4 23 as well today and it had the numbered ejector that you mentioned above, it looks identical to my unmarked ejector. We are both going to shoot on thursday so i will report back on his as well.
I have the following experience with Gen 4 Glocks in .40. Take it for what it’s worth:
Very early Gen 4 22-over currently at just over 5000 rounds. Old style ejector, currently has the newest RSA. Has had every version of RSA Glock has made for these guns. 0 malfunctions of any kind, with any RSA. Frame blended and stippled by me, first I did, feels great, looks like ass, my favorite Glock right now.
Gen 4 23-Old style ejector, newest RSA, came with an older one. Gun has not malfunctioned, but the locking block did break at about 250 rounds. The gun kept running and I didn’t notice it was broken until I took the gun apart. Sent gun to Glock and they replaced the frame for free and had it back to me in less than ywo weeks. Additional 700 rounds fired since, 0 malfunctions.
Gen 4 27-Old ejector, standard RSA. Aproximately 300 rounds fired, 0 malfunctions.
Gen 4 35-Newest Ejector and RSA. Only 200 rounds through this gun. I have had multiple stoppages due to my thumb hitting the extended slide stop and engaging it while shooting. Doesn’t happen with my Gen 3 35. I plan to put a regular slide stop in. I don’t know why I do it with this gun and not the Gen 3 35.
Are you shooting the Gen 4 without any backstrap? The frame is thinner without the backstrap than the Gen 3’s. The first backstrap is the eq of the Gen 3 thickness wise and this can affect your thumb position.
I have 2 gen 4 22’s. The first one i bought took about 300rds before it would function properly, the second one was perfect from the start. But i bought a gen 4 G17 the same day i bought my first gen 4 G22 and the 17 with the early spring has been flawless the whole time. Its been hit or miss. I do still use a gen 3 G17 for daily carry and work for peace of mind.
I purchased a new G22 gen4 in February from Davidson’s and took it to Gunsite and ran in through their 250 Pistol course in March and had no issues at all (unlike most of the 1911’s around me, did I say that :fie:)
Alright i made it to the range today with the 22. I ran 300 rounds through it with 0 malfunctions of any kind. The first 200 rounds were flawless with strong ejection at about 4:00. The last 100 rounds were a little different, for the last 100 rounds i was doing some rapid fire and mag dumps and started to notice that the ejection was becoming a little erratic with about 4 of the shell casings ejecting strait up in the air however the ejection was still quite strong. I only had one shell casing come back at me and hit me in my ear pro. Overall I was pretty impressed with the gun, the accuracy is by far the best of any of the glocks i have owned. I will be putting another 200 through next week and will report back after that.
Great point. I am shooting it “bare” and I didn’t think of that. I like the frame size without the added backstrap so I will probably just get a regular slide stop for it.
Or if it has older ejector, call glock and they will send you the new ones, free of charge if your an armorer.
put another 200 rounds of wwb through this morning, with no ejection issues at all, ejection was strong and the ejection pattern was very consistent. Keeping my fingers crossed that this trend continues!
