Well I tried waiting for the “deets”, but I’m impatient. What rail is that? Looks DDish in attachment method.

Its a DDM4 12.0.

I love DD rails. The prices and installation time are a little tough, but they’re one of my favorites.

Agreed. I have one on an SPR I really enjoy.

Really nice looking build! How does it shoot?

Really soft and loud haha. I haven’t put it in the lead sled yet, but grouping for zero shows promise.

Upper:
-“A” marked forged upper that would have been from Aero or Colt
-Mos Tek 13.5” Alpha profile midlength gassed barrel, which is a pretty straight contour .700” diameter
-DDM4 12.0 rail (which is actually a bit longer, like 12.6” or something like that)
-Griffin Gatelok Hammer Comp, old style.
-Tangodown rail covers, Magpul handstop, DD ladder
-Steiner P4Xi
-ADM Recon H
-Wojtek AGB
-Dickbutt ejection port cover, thanks to GTF425
-BCM charging handle
-Chromed semi BCG, bought on EE; wanna say it was said to be LMT, don’t remember.

Lower:
-SR15 TDP stripper, Form 1 registered SBR
-Magpul 40 with MagPod. Blaze Orange tape to fool the lawnmower gods
-LPK would have been Sionics or SOLGW, don’t remember
-KNS pins, because weirdo trigger
-Triggertech AR Fixed Combat, or whatever they called their heaviest 2-stage before changing the names a year ago
-BAD 45* ambi selector switch
-BCM Mod 3 grip, which is fatter. Oil inside.
-Brownells A1 stock
-Tubbs flatwire
-empty, hollow rifle buffer
-Boonie Packer Redi-Catch…locks bolt to rear with right hand. Great for double feeds and “unload and show clear”
-Magpul trigger guard

Accessories:
-Griffin M4SD-L silencer. Because I’m not a heathen. Used in some practice, but not all, this can is lightweight, does a great job of reducing recoil, and the mount has no exposed threads or anything to get beat up on 9-hole barricades, since it’s mostly used unsuppressed.
-Atlas QD bipod. Since getting this for a different type of match gun, I keep some pic rail open at the front bottom of my guns because it’s wicked convenient for quick zeroing. It’s also the most stable bipod I’ve ever used, with the apex being an imaginary point above the barrel, and the feet wider than tall.

Given that some of the parts’ origins have escaped my memory, y’all’ve probably realized that this has been an ongoing project. A few years ago a member here donated an 18” barrel that I combined with a KAC rail to make a low-recoil gaming gun. The purpose of the project was to explore the lower limits of recoil, muzzle movement, and split times with a rifle that retained some semblance of combat applicability. The Sentry AGB got replaced by a Wojtek because the adjustments are more precise, by double. 6 clicks per turn. The 18” got replaced by a 13.5” because most of the stages at matches in my area are bay stages. Not that anyone seems to have them anymore lately. Also, silencer mount comps I tried with the 18” barrel tended to overdrive it and push the muzzle down. With the 13.5” and Hammer Comp (old style), the muzzle doesn’t move with factory 55gr brass-cased ammo.

The next two changes:
-I’m going to shorten the buffer, and add a hydraulic buffer behind it. This is what I do on my PCC. I think it will further reduce recoil, but we’re well into the territory where that won’t matter. Just continuing an experiment.
-I’m ditching the KAC lower for something sloppier with a funnel. The KAC fails to drop free PMag 30 3rd gen mags. So that’ll suck another tax stamp out of my budget.

Next time I have a minute:
-how I settled on barrel length
-how I feel about weight and handling, and what direction I’d choose next time

Nice.
Gecko or Amphibian or something like has posts on AR15 and an ancient website about using a Kynshot 9mm buffer in an A5 extension. Might work with a spacer.

After selling off the Kahles K18i (heaven forgive me), I have the 13” Colt barrel with a Leopold Mk3HD 1.5-4. Light, clear, and bright.
