When I was at Soto Cano, we’d go there by Chinook for the 3-4 day weekends
They’d drop us off and tell us when they’d pick us up … fun times
cool ![]()
ya know the island then ![]()
was quite a bit different back in the 90s and changed over the years
but still a great place if ya like to dive and have fun and meet people
living and being a instructor on the island was quite the experience

one of my friends parents live on Marie Galante in the French West Indies, its a beautiful island! They drink Rum (159 proof) and lay in the sun, its a rough existence…and the best part? Their mother is the island doctor!
Any idea what firearm ownership is like there?
I wish I had taken the blue pill
The doctor part would be good !
One of my Maui buds moved to USVI his wife is head of radiology there ![]()

Learned about bumbo and to put lime juice and chili powder on my corn from living there
FWI is a department of the French government. Much like the Seychelles and its Pacific holdings, they fall under authority of Paris and have regional authority held closer. MG is south of Guadeloupe, so it’s local government is run out of Basse-Terre. LEO consists of local police who are unarmed and a contingent of Gendermarie who are armed and roll around the island in Defenders. Those French citizens who service in the Gendermarie are required to serve overseas as part of their time. Which could include FWI or Seychelles!
I would venture to guess that private ownership is nonexistent. Of course, my friend and her fiancé found a clearing littered with shot through targets and and benches with, what they said were “dark gray empty bullet things” scattered on them. That would indicate steel cased ammo, her fiancé said they might have been AK rounds as they looked like rifle type rounds. We all agreed that the local herbal farmers were probably out there earlier! We made sure to stick to the pavement and not let the car out of our sight.
They drink Te Punch on the island, white rum, tea spoon of sugar, lime wedge, and 2 ice cubes. It’s vicious!
Buddy of mine used to run one of the dance halls he would put out a 5 gallon bucket fill it with crushed limes and rum some cane juice and put out a stack of dixie cups
Local cheap rum for extra kick ![]()
